I got so done with AC when I heard that they killed off the main antagonist that transcends the entire timeline in a comic

If they change it and it's good, dope

If it's the same even better

But what's the purpose of a remake? Is it remaking a classic experience, or is it reMAKEing it for a new audience/generation?

Isn't them changing it violating what made the original special in the first place?

Most remakes is the first example

7R is the one that stands out among remakes

Talking about in the video game history

No? If that were the case, then all adaptations would be wrong.

I wouldn't go that far. Like there is of course good and bad changes, but it depends on what it is.

But remakes aren't adaptations- not inherently, they exist somewhere between adaptations and original creations; neither either

Not completely I mean

I never played the first RE4 game but from what I am reading around everywhere of the remake is it kept almost everything and changed up some models here and there and fleshed out the gameplay more

It still changed it but it's still keeping the essence

Keeps the essence but loses the core

I'm sure that reads cringey but it's how I feel lol

It plays LIKE Resident Evil 4 but it ISN'T Resident Evil 4

With RE4 i can't really say either or, I am just going by the reactions

I disagree. All adaptations are inherently remakes. They serve the same purpose: showing the same work to a new audience.

And from what I have seen it's kept the core too

It's still scary, goofy and fun to play

Also yeah, I agree with Sam there

Yeah but they took out Leon calling everyone bro 😔

Yeah but Sam doesn't believe anything from the past should be celebrated, only discarded and updated like old software.

Celebrated, yes. Blindly held up as superior, no.

I don't agree on discarded but I do agree on updating them

Bring all the old games to new consoles and PC

Don't let them be forgotten to history

Port them all, even the most garbage games

I just disagree with this idea that every landmark title or cult classic needs to be "remade"

Like I fully want Life of Tiger to be on the new consoles

It's horrible but it's part of history

A "remake" to me sounds like there was something wrong or inferior with/about the old game that can/should be addressed and fixed

But like if we change and update the old titles I think we lose sight why and how they were influential in the first place

I don't really see remakes that way. A lot of old games have not aged well. Remaking them to not only be shown to a new audience but also updated to modern standards can be good.

But it also needs to be a good remake

No absolutely not. Gamers are far too eager to defend the past, no matter how rubbish it is.

Gamers are also eager to defend any and all new products no matter how bad it can be. That's just how it works with everything.
