What they wanted to do is fantastic for the style but they even knew how long that would be

That's kinda the point here. That's why you see more indie games taking cues from snes style games because it takes less time and a lot less risk.

PS2/Gamecube games are great and all, but they take money, manpower and time. Not something every indie developer can do.

Again I get that I said it's understand but man it's just to many

They start to be the same

Also doesn't help how the industry just keeps getting more expensive

Look at how many developers have been laid off this year

But the industry works on those connections and making relationships cause you never know when it might come in handy

Plus I think we are getting to a point where we need to define what an "indie" game is.

There's a game nominated for indie game of the year that's independently owned but employees hundreds of people and has made a lot of money, and people are like "that's not really indie."

Some people say Lies of P is Indie, Sea of Stars is Indie you see? The term is too broad.

Is Cuphead indie? It was but was it since Microsoft picked it up?

These are things we need to figure out.

Well if they started doing more stylized games instead of trying to show me all the pores on someone's face they could put that down. It's just everyone AAA is trying to do that

I kinda feel that way too but then again, TOTK and Spider-Man 2 reused hella assets so lol

But then again RE4 build it from the ground up

I don't think being independent matters much? It's about the developers and budget that's behind it

Like before being bought by Sony, Insomniac was independent. I wouldn't call those games indies in any way.

No I get that and personally I don't care, those Yakuza games I love reuse assets a lot but, people have inconsistent opinons on it.

But if the developer is independent, why does budget matter?

Isn't that just gate-keep-y schematics at that point?

Like how Punk fans hate it when punk bands get a record deal?

I guess there just isn't an all defining answer here, it just depends on different factors and what's going on

And coming back to this, I am not sure how I feel about it

On one hand it's a great remake and done some great changes both in quality of life and gameplay

But it's very close to a 1:1 remake too, so it just feels like the same game

Compared to something like FF7R that's different in every way

So yeah I don't know, it's a great game but still not sure if it should be in the goty category

Not that it matters, some of the choices in other categories are weird

At that point put the original on there

Yeah I wish we had more diversity amongst the other categories

Best remake should be a category

Also, having goty games in other categories feels weird, cuz if they win that category, then that significant increases the likelihood that they win goty to where at the end of the show it's down to like 3 games that won their respective categories

And it takes some of the suspense of who wins
