It's how they make rpg games, it's something that's more usual in how Japan has made and defined them

It's why stuff like dark souls or elden ring isn't defined as a jpeg because it doesn't follow the usual formula

Dark Souls and Elden Ring are still based on japanese game design philosophies though

their philosophy is actually even based on Final Fantasy

Those three aren't the only games. LIke yes they started it but the amount of games that came afterward that has a general formula on how the games work, that even those games you listed follow now.

It's why people have a hard time calling FF16 a jrpg, or even an rpg, because it just doesn't follow any of them properly

Fromsoft games are the same, they follow a completely different formula compared to so many games that are considered jrpg
