It is true that art design has held rpgs back in the west but its not the only factor

Not like how it was 10, 15 years ago

its the same situation that I always compared with japan studios or people wanting sony OG ips back

if you want them buy them if not they shut down

similar to this just not the shut down for the most part

but nah mfs want realistic cinematic games now

so if your not mario you fail

You're making some valid points i dont really disagree at all, but, I also think Clair's success is more than just its look- RPG's love and die by their mechanics, especially turn based ones, and it helps it has good mechanics.

Otherwise its buzz would have faded by now if it was just "look how cool this is," the fact that it plays well is also a crucial factor.

it does but past turn based have had that yet no one cares

cliar is the first lol

Metaphor was literally game of the year nomination in lots of places

I get what you are saying that anime art style doesn't play as well as realistic

But they still do well

Trails series is all about the anime art style and they have like 20 games despite never selling like gangbuster

They sell what fans want and succeed but some companies try for more than that and fail

nothing wrong with that but also lets be honest

trails games still look like they running on a PS2

so I HOPE they dont cost much to make

And I do think the art style for Clair played a part but not for the character models but the art design

That shit pops hard and looks great, that is a big part of why I think this game has been such a huge success

look all im gonna end this with is if you actually care for these games and dont want 16 again then show it

but now we gonna get 50 copies of clair

I don't want 16 again not because its action but because I just did not like playing the game

The next FF can be an FPS game for all I care, it just needs to be a good game

I wont be surprised if ff17 does parry and everything else now

I am being hyperbolic here, not serious

Rebirth already has it and that came out last year

I really don't get your arguments here

Like you are saying people should vote with their wallets, but then say we are getting 50 clair obscurs as if thats a bad thing?

Turnbased my guy

FF7 is more action then a turn based lets be real

Og or remakes?

Cause Remakes yeah, but

That was the point

Besides half of Clair's mechanics are just Atlus shit + parries lol FF has never done their RPG's that mechanically intensive in the first place

Mario & luigi been

done all this

you parry with hammer you dodge by jumping

Who cares where it came from

No game is an originality nowadays

you do more pressing buttons

thats not the point

I ......... really don't get this discussion

its been a thing people act like its new

Then why the dumb comparison to Mario and Luigi?

No one is acting like its new

But its also not a mechanic that's used a lot

no problem clair doing it
