I chalk up some of the more awkward animation choices for this movie to Disney not having faith in this movie

Like, this movie absolutley could've released in theaters, but Disney did not trust it would suceed so they didnt

also there was like, zero advertisement for this movie

very little promotional material

This movie is for sure a passion project kind of work

where someone had an idea for a modern take of the work of who framed froger rabbit

I stoll need to see C and D.

Looks like fun brain junk food

Disney has finally gotten the idea that crossovers are cool lol

This movie is so much more of a crossover honestly

How's the voice acting?

good

its a bunch of celebrity voices for most of the cast, though some classic voice actors did make a return

Jim Cumming is in it

That kinda bugs me; they always replace iconic talent when they can minus M, D, and G.

As well as the voice actress for dot from animaniacs

Like in that Christopher Robin movie, they weren't gonna have Cummings voice Tigger originally

the original voices for chip and dale do in fact have a role in this movie, just not for very long

essentially (spoilers for the intro)

Chip and Dale are actors and their original voices from the rescue rangers show and stuff like kingdom hearts are their "performance" voices.

 

See I actually kind of like that tbh

That's actually kinda accurate to Disney canon lol; Walt always wanted his characters to be treated and seen like real people, hence why they always showed up in live action pieces.

For most of the movie you will hear them speak as Jon mulaney playing chip and Andy Sanberg plays dale

Like how at the parks the characters "cant talk" cause they need their voices for their performances.

Looney Tunes do the same thing actually.

the movie goes for a very "everyone has lives outside of their shows" kind of angle

Lol idk y but I feel like Sora outside of KH acts pretty much just like Sora IN KH.

That or he's a total Vanitas

very much like how "who framed roger rabbit" did stuff with goofy getting proven innocent in a news article and stuff like that

I would say this movie has probably the most references/cameos to work not owned by the company making the film itself

and that alone can make this worth the watch

beware for potential spoilers

I just enjoy how off brand C&D is. It does fun stuff with the characters that I could never imagine Disney doing twenty or even ten years ago. They’re innovating, they’re taking risks. And that’s a lot more than I can say for about 90% of Hollywood.
