you can't blame these companies to make live service games when gamers want liveservice games. what gamers want is good liveservice games

The issue with games like Highguard is that investors give too fast up on these games

everything about Highguard was fixable

same for concord

expecting a liveservice to be immediately successful and popular is delusional

It can happen, Helldivers 2 is an example

They expected around the same playerbase as the first game and got so, so much more than they expected

But this is what these studios are betting on, a homerun

Anything else after doesn't mean much

a liveservice game doesn't even need to be good for big success. It can even be average and with good streamer rng shit gets popular

just look at genshin impact

it was a mediocre game during launch and got popular through vtubers and nintendo fan ragebait

Wuthering Waves 1.0 was also a disaster and they had an insane comeback with the 2.x expansion

these companies just don't try enough

but here's the thing, live service games are currently overrun. theres less single player games as well less focus on them

just cause you free to play doesnt mean instant success

we have too much live service games/ gaas games

also saturation in the market is high atm

they all want a home run just cause epic hit one with fortnite

thats what they were aiming for
