depends on the perspective. Like the whispers in 7 are there from pretty much early game and you know that it's gonna be bs. now imagine you have the last airbender which is mostly absolute cinema and peak and then they drop a deus ex machina right in the episode before the final fight because they have no idea how to write the firelord out of the story

that was at least our logic

I think the latter is much much worse

I personally find stories less annoying when they have consistency in terms of being bs

because it sets up an expectation

Or you have a logical culmination of the themes and beliefs that have been set up throughout the whole series, introduced so that there was a way for the series to end while not compromising the core character of Aang. (Whether that should have been introduced earlier is a different story) Compared to a deus ex machina that no one really cared for, not really was invested in, and only existed to change the story to pad out the entire Midgar section

imo they kinda compromised Aangs entire journey with this because he had to rely on a Deus Ex machina to solve the conflict. I was deeply dissatisfied with how his character arc ended, but tbf I have no idea how they could have done it differently. They wrote themselves into a corner and it was too late for a proper build up Zuko vs Azula was such a tremendously better done part than the actual fight against the firelord. not only in terms of writing, but also music, choreography and animation

Well yeah, they'd actually been on screen and interacting throughout the series. Much harder to write that sort of dynamic for your hero and the big bad during their 1st and only meeting

DT easily clears for me shb and ew because of all the battle content

and the ultimates

also first expansion where ex trial farms didn't cause me to kms

honestly I was thinking about putting EW below ARR just because of how terrible the content cadence and normal mode quality was

but then I got reminded how terrible ARR was

and I honestly still take the toddler difficulty of EW content over all the jank ARR had

It can't get worse than Boruto

right?

I will say though, it's also not not completely out of nowhere. I am watching the show again for the first time in like...over a decade because I want to rewatch everything before the new show. But one thing I have noticed are a bunch of animals being mentioned to train people in the elements. Hell Toph was taught by moles who can earthbend. So while energy bending comes out of nowhere, Aang being by taught by an animal isn't.
