I've been on some other websites where there are a few groups called "Clans".

 

In a nutshell, you apply for a clan, if you're accepted you can be part of it (dur). There'll be yearly/monthly/ect. competitions between the clans, with contests such as "Roleplaying Contest", "Sketching Contest", "AMV Contest", "Debate Contest", ect. The clan will elect or two people to represent them. Each clan has a leader and a co-leader.

I think it sounds like a pretty good idea.

That is basically groups. I think the new forum software comes with something like that. Like someone makes a group and people can join it.

I don't mean like that kind of thing. Like, there aren't fifty of them, and they aren't that kind of group. There'll be just a few. There's no real theme, per say.

Because making a thread for clans/groups mean everyone can make one and make several and that would get out of hand.

May i ask what site this you find these clans on?

At the moment on KH13 about 250 members logon to the site everyday. Idk if thats enough to split into multiple groups? Maybe this would work on larger sites, or sometime (hopefully) in the near future. But honestly i dont think it would work at the moment. Feel free to argue with me tho. Haha.

Meh, I don't really like the idea. "Clans" would only end up splitting up the members more (than they already are sometimes). That only calls for fights & disputes, something we're clearly trying to steer clear from...

I see where you're coming from. The clans are actually supposed to draw us closer if anything. Their basically just a group doing competitions together. It seems people handle the AMV, ect. contests alright, so I think it may work out. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, though~

i don't like the idea of contests restricted only to one clan, that would exclude everyone else who wanted to do it

No no no, the clans would ALL compete in the contest TOGETHER. It's not just one clan having contests.

But to me: about the clan decides whether or not the clan admits you or not is kind of wrong. To me, I think it should be like this. There can be up to 10 people in one clan and a minunum of 5. The 1st five members who apply to the clan are automatically in the clan, while the other 5 people who apply, the clan decides whether to admit the 5 people or not.

No, the clan decides TOGETHER, so if one person doesnt like them, it's still fair. And if we were only putting a few people in each clan, we'd have fifty. there are only three or four.

This was on an old forum I used to go to and it was a nice idea, but I remember members getting into fights and having "clan wars" and that kind of drove people apart. I'm not saying I'm against it but each of us staff have to have access to each clan to make sure there are not any fights developing/occuring I like the idea but maybe if more members become active on here.

Cricket is completely correct. A mod should have access to each clan if you end up doing it. When I think of clans what comes to mind is clan wars. Not a good thing.

 

If you want to do a contest so much with some people then just do one.

I agree with Jenny, they're pretty pointless and just cause trouble. "Fanclubs" however are basically the same thing, without the fighting between them. What do you think?
