I dont know if it just me, but why do I such a sense of skepticism and also feel so much skepticism coming from the reviews, a game with a critic score this high usually we talk about masterpiece but this jsut feels like every1 just liked it. I remember the ffxvi chatter ppl were like WOAH GREATEST FF and then bam 87 critic score. I wish I could tell you that I don't care about critic score but I'm just kinda wondering why I'm so skeptic about 7... is the nomura? But I love nomura games...

Nomura is the kinda man everyone, even many of his fans, takes his products with a grain of salt, even if he's not even one of the credited directors or writers.

Everyone was so ready to blame the Whispers and changing the plot on him, but then it turned out he was pretty against the ideas.

I can understand the sentiment. As much as I am excited about the game, there are definitely concerns with the story. And looking at some of the reviews, that seems a little justified after what Remake did.

But it's just a wait and see game now

That's where the divide comes in, and by divide, I mean, that's why I don't listen to critics anymore lol

Critics, and journalists in gaming haven't been objective sinc Modern Warfare 2; I mean come on, why else would all those NBA 2K or Madden games keep getting 8's, and 9's?

Sponsorships, cool swag given to influencers and behind-close-doors trailers and demos to curry favor; there's very few objective voices.

And tbh I'd be fine with that but they all pretend they're objective when it's plain they're not.

This is a true story; about 2? 3 years ago? Someone made a YT video (I'll try to find it for proof) they used to be a writer for like IGN or Kotaku; and they reviewed most KH games, they ragged on the franchise all the time in their writing, but in the video they admitted they actually liked the games a lot and found them influential. Making fun of Kingdom Hearts was just "the thing you did" back then. Like all the vitriol JRPG's got in the early 00's through the 10's.

I think it's just a case of the game being that good despite it's shortcomings. Yeah there's a "but" in there but it doesn't stop it from still being a fun game.

And honestly I haven't read much negativity from critics. They all have a thing or two they didn't like but nothing that made it bad for them.

To be fair, you should always make fun of KH and this is coming from a huge fan of KH games

It can be kinda nonsense at times but it wears it on its sleeves and that's great

Cause on one hand if I say no it looks like I'm humorless and can't take a joke about a franchise I like.

On the other hand I find most of the jokes about KH to be:

> based on misinformation/not paying attention/bad playing

>just not that funny.

Plus KH gets the "called stupid but affectionately" treatment, and I'm personally not a fan of that way of enjoying media.

The only thing I give that a pass towards is professional wrestling

I won't lie, I did used to find that annoying too but I don't know nowadays it doesn't bother me as much

More so because I see sentiments like that on other stuff too so it's not just a KH thing

Like over half the videos talking about how the love Kingdom Heaers is usually something like "Kingdom Hearts is stupid and dumb and weird and whacky and I love it."

And im just bored of that type of praise.

Can't you say it's "honest"? Or that it's "genuine", or how the fact that it's takes itself ao seriously is what makes it unique?

To me those qualities are positives, not detriments.

Kingdom Hearts is the one where it annoys me the most, but, I've seen it for Yakuza since the 4th one, Metal Gear basically my whole life, Hell like half of the Final Fantasy's too.

Kojima is worse off than Nomura if you think about it; there's people that just don't like Nomura, but they mostly just ignore him and his presence, there's gamers that have full on hate boners for the dude, claiming he's a pretentious selfish hack who "ruined video games."

I just looked at the comment section of the FFUnion review and some NSP videos and the discourse is honestly already awful

according to Resetera Eurogamer gave the game a 100 and they didn't even finish the game so their review is basically worthless
