As much as I love Kingdom Hearts style of story telling, I really dont think it mixes well at all with Final Fantasy 7, its weird and out of place.

I don't know if KH is an apt comparison. There's weird stuff in KH but it's been like that since inception, or at the very least since KH2.

Whatever is happening here is just weird and not the good kind

it might not be the best comparison, but its close enough to how I feel about the weird shit that gets thrown in when it didnt need it in the first place.
