16 may look and feel very Western but it's still attuned yo Japanese applicabiliteies

Plus, like FF7 is big in Japan but remember, it ain't Dragin Quest. When Cloud got put in smash ,Japanese fans were like "that's cool but it feels like it's more for the western fans, we wanted Hero 😭"

even if we just take the GoT thing it's hard to call it pandering specifically to the west because GoT is big in japan too

asian pop culture and western culture overlap a lot nowadays so I think it's hard to draw a line between the cultures. It's actually crazy. A lot of people I know are listening to k and j pop nowadays more than western music
