The way you state your thread contradicts what you are saying, your title is basically implying that either the world is going to end in 2011 and 2012 will never come, or that some how the year 2012 is going to be skipped all together. I know what you are saying, but at least be clear, say like, "The world isn't going to end in 2012", and another thing, the capslock makes you look like a gentleman, just saying, capslock and this subject don't mix, it's like oil and water.

Pure coincidence, no one can predict when the world is going to end, now perhaps the Mayan Calendar relates to some sort of event, but it doesn't predict the end of the world.

 

If you are worried, then think about a few other things, there are many many people who have said the world was going to end, Christians in 1844, even some recent predictions, a few years earlier than now, and even some Christan radio station says the world will end in this May.

 

The point is, so many people have predicted it and the prediction was totally wrong, and they just made some lousy excuse for the mistake, what makes an ancient civilization with a weird calendar any different?

 

The thing is, the Mayans aren't even the ones that said that their calendar is predicting the end of the world, it's people that found it, and considering the past, what makes them so right now?

 

The point is that I'm not believing it, besides, if we could predict when the world is going to end, then that basically means that there is no greater deity, being, or whatever it is that you want to believe in, or don't want to. If you believe that, you're basically saying that we are all an accident, do you want to live your life believing that you came from a glob of galactic snot? I don't think so.

If it ends it ends. No use in worrying about something that may happen. I really don't think it's going to end though but I'm sure I'd be anxious about it when 2012 comes but I just naturally worry.

1. The Sun won't collapse until another 3 billion years. In which case we will be dead and probably the entire human race. Not from 2012 but from more likely causes such as plagues, warfare, maybe even a threat we can't even comprehend.

 

2. The sun doesn't explode. It isn't large enough to do so. It will expand into a Red Giant burning everything up until Uranus or something like that. Then it will cool into a white dwarf the size of earth. Basically it will expand and then contract. No explosion. Only stars about 200 times the size of Sol will do that.
