Hope could hardly believe what had happened. He had wanted to help his friends, but the buffs he had cast on them had worn him to the point of exhaustion and he had collapsed.

 

Serah approached him. "Noel, I've had dreams about a Noel."

"Must be somebody else," Hope replied. "I'm off to find Ultima. From what I've gathered, it's an important piece of a world. Nearest is Ultimecia's castle."

 

"Let me join you," Serah demanded.

 

"Do you trust me?" Hope asked.

 

"Why wouldn't I?"

Vicente was a little bit happy that someone was hearing him out. He told the girl, "If both gods disappear from this realm, new gods may have to be chosen. Chaos has left and Cosmos isn't far off. If new gods are chosen from among us, we might be in a lot of trouble. We need to find Ultima before Cid and stop him from doing anything rash with the conflict."

Johnny raised his blade to Genesis but pulled out another Keyblade and held it positioned at Cid, "I'm not letting you off the hook just yet, Doctor." He then defused the x-Blade and summoned another Keyblade, holding two in his hands and two in the air behind him, "C'mon Genesis. Let's finish this."

Jaina had managed to get her communicator to sound over the intercoms. She spoke into the handheld device as she walked down the corridors to the laboratories, "Anyone had any luck? I'm checking out the labs."

Genesis got into his form, and then looked at Johnny. they stopped for a moment, then Genesis quickly lunged towars johnny clashing against his blade, Johnny ducked and slashed back, Genesis immediately jumped back, into freefall. Johnny looked around strangely, not seeing him. Genesis ran across the wal and came on the other side, and slashed, Johnny tripped and fell back.

"Give up." he said, his wing flew out of his shoulder. Johnny groaned and then slashed towards him, Genesis kept blockingand then casted fire spells.

Zack walked by the engine room, he ehard Jaina call.

"Any luck?" she asked, Zack looked in the furnace and saw a glowing yellow sphere.

"I think so." he said.

"Cloud." She hadn't seen much of him in her previous war, but she remembered that he was fighting for Chaos. Or at least, chosen by him. "What are you doing here? Why weren't you summoned to Sanctuary?" If he wasn't summoned, he must not be here for Cosmos. And yet, he wasn't with Cid and Genesis. Where exctly did he stand in all of this?

 

Lightning stood before the "SOLDIER" in the alleyway, unarmed. This wasn't a fight yet.

Johnny retailated to this onslaught by sending out the two keys behind him to attack while he regained his footing. The fireballs were dispersed after the keys charged through them. Johnny jumped at Genesis and began to attack mercilessly, both with the keys in his hands and the ones in the air. Genesis was having trouble keeping up with the attacks of all four weapons and Johnny knew it. He took one sword in a uppercut fashion, sending Genesis to the other side of the room.

"Had enough?" Johnny asked with a cocky smile on his face.

"MUAHAHAHAHAHA!" a voice called from the doorway. Johnny turned to see whose voice it was and saw a man in red armor. The man summoned a Buster Sword and an orange blade, "Nice swords you got there. I think I'll take 'em off your hands." Before Johnny could say anything about the Keyblades, the man assumed a battle pose, "GILGAMESH FIGHTS AGAIN!!!"

'Great,' Johnny thought. 'Now I'm dealing with a madman AND Gilgamesh.' Johnny raised two swords to each body in the room, "I'm not going down against either of you!"

Genesis looked at the nut.

'this is not worth it.' he thoought in his mind. he immediately put the chaos orb into his arm an dblew them both away. he went to Cid.

"LEt's get out of here, it's not worth it." he sai, Cid was about to object but sighed. he looekd to Venat who created a portal, they went through and the appeared un Midgar, Genesis stepped forward.

"My homeworld." he sAID.

-MEANWHILE-

they spent and hour getting the orb out of the furnace, it was extreemly hot so they had to wait for it to cool down.

~Rinoa~

Maybe he honestly wasn't worried about who each warrior had originally been summoned by but survival. Even if he was truly bad, Rinoa could at least give him a chance. He had a good idea and seemed sincere, if anything that one boy..... S....Se.....Seifer? Seifer from her world taught her that. But she really didn't want to stay,here forever, she had her own beliefs that weren't privy to any "so called God."

 

"In any case, I agree. By the way I'm Rinoa a Warrior of....." She stopped short of saying Cosmos because an annoying voice in her head. It whispered, "A l warrior of Harmony is not what you are. You are but a tool of Discord" Rinoa shook her head in frustration and restarted her sentence hoping to make things easier for herself, "I'm a new warrior of Chaos"

{Cloud}

"I was." Cloud says. "I popped up after everyone was gone. Cosmos wanted me to find this."

He raises a hand to reveal an orb.

"Stole it from Emperor Mateus."

He puts the orb in a pocket.

"So, what are you doing hang Chaos goons?"

{Dr Cid}

Cid sighs. He had hoped to us the Bahamut. But that wasn't going to happen now. Cid looks around him. He is puzzled.

"Why here?" He asks Genesis.

Genesis sighed.

"Dunno, suppose it's a spur of the moment, anything to get away from those lunes." he said, he then looekd at Cid.

"You still have the orbs?" he asked, the man nodded holding a case with him, Genesis nodded, lookign around th ebroken town of Midgar. he saw the old shinra building.

Johnny and Gilgamesh were flung back out onto the Cannon Superstructure. Johnny got back up and looked at his opponent. He had already gotten back up and was ready to smite Johnny on the spot.

"Now, gimme the weapons and I'll be on my way," Gil said. Johnny dropped the Keyblade in front of him. Gil picked it up and looked at it for a second before it reappeared back in Johnny's hand.

"That's not a nice trick," Gil said, disappointed that his attempts were thwarted.

"Eh, there's always more swords than these ones," Johnny said.

Gil immediatly perked up, "REALLY?!? You know where to get more of those swords?"

Johnny replied, confident that he had already gotten a new ally, "Just follow me and I'll take you to go find some truely legendary weapons."

Gil was eager to go until he realized something, "Waitaminute, how do I know you're telling the truth? How do I know that there's a place that you got those swords?"

Johnny sighed, "How do you think I got four of them?"

Gil replied, "Oh. Duh. Let's get going!" Gil opened a strange black portal on the ground, "Where to, sir?"

Johnny thought for a moment, "Hmmm..." He then remembered what Cid had said, "Zanarkand. We're going to Zanarkand."

The two went through the portal and ended up in the deserted ruins of the once proud city.

Vicente sighed in relief that Rinoa had sided with him, "It really doesn't matter which side any of us are on now." He looked back at the ruins of Midgar and saw Cid and Genesis appear. He backed himself and Rinoa into a nearby alley, "Light's already looking for this world's piece. Let's not interrupt her and make haste in another." He opened a portal and the two walked through. They ended up in the town of Baron.

Jaina looked at the strange piece Zack had found, "So this is part of Ultima? How did Chaos expect to use this thing?"

{Dr Cid}

Cid looks around. Odd place. But it could be useful. His eyes fell on the Shinra Building.

"Ah." He says. "I believe that would do nicely for a new base of operations."

Cid rubs his hands together.

"I need to take a look at the orbs we have."

Zack sighed.

"From what I understand, these orbs conatain power, and when they're all brought together, Ultima will be complete." he explained, Jaina nodded.

"however, Cosmos entrusted us each with a piece, like the crystals from thwe last war, you need to do something, then you unlock it." Zack said forming his orb.

"when I defeated Genesis, it jsut appeared." he said.

-meanwhile-

Genesis nodded.

"Alright, the place is old so you shouldn't have trouble, I'll scout ahead." he said, Cid nodded and took the orbs with him into the building, Genesis looked at the statue out front.

'Don't remember that.' he thought in his mind. he looekd in the distance and saw some people.

"I'm not playing for either side." Lightning eyed the orb. It looked like Ultima. Even felt like it. But she didn't know Mateus was here. This was more than a little suspicious.

 

"Alright, let's say I bite. What do you want?" She knew the answer. To team up. Find the rest of Ultima. She'd heard this before. Only a few minutes ago, in fact. She was beginning to wonder if she could actually trust anyone in this war.

{Cloud}

Cloud shrugs.

"Two heads are usually better than one."

Cloud eyes her.

"Though you seem to have had your fill with people helping you."

He gestures toward the opposite exit from where Lightning entered.

"You wanna go on your own, than go. I'm not going to stop you."

The offer was tempting, however...

 

She sighed. "This is your world, right? Then I need your help." She hated the words. "Cid thinks that the pieces of Ultima are linked to important events in each world. Apparently this 'Meteorfall' seems ot be it, but I can't be sure." She rubbed her eyes with her fingers (OOC: Something I do when I'm stressed), looking back to Cloud. "Fine. Let's go. But if you even think about turning on me..."

Genesis got closer, watching, it was Farron and... Cloud strife. his head rummbled with a memory.

'the cells!' he thought in his mind, one of the ways that could of stopped his degradation... He had an orb... looked like one of the ones he and Cid were out looking for.

'Hm... I'll wait.' he thought in his mind. he couldn't let them know Cid was in the Shinra building.

{Cloud}

Cloud held up his hands in a defense gesture.

"I'm not the one who will do the turning." He says. "I hope I can say the same for you."

He leads Lightning out of the alley and out into the city. Cloud misses his bike.

"So." He says as he leads Lightning. "What's been happening?"

{Dr Cid}

Cid went into the Shinra Building. It still had some power. He looks at a building directory and is elated to see a lab. He heads up to the lab.

Jaina shook her head, "Stranger and stranger. All right, where's our next stop?"

Johnny and Gil looked around everywhere for this world's Ultima orb, yet they had no luck finding it.

Gil sat down on a nearby rock, "You sure this glowing pebble is here?"

Johnny put down the rock he was looking under, "If not here, then where else would it be? We need someone who knows this world."

Gil looked down, once more saddened, "Sad to say, I haven't been here before. This is one of few places I haven't been."

Johnny sighed and then had a thought, "Wait a second...you traveled the various worlds and dimensions, right? That means we could find Ultima orbs faster! You know more worlds than the rest!" Johnny stopped himself before he got on his high horse, "But we should still at least find this world's orb."

Gil looked into the sky and saw something, "How about that ship?" Johnny turned and saw it. The Fahrenheit. That's where the orb would be.

"Chaos is gone, apparently. Cosmos is in pretty bad shape herself. Cid's practically taking charge of Chaos' troops. Cosmos' lot is scattered." Lightning caught Cloud up as they continued through the run-down city. "Everyone's scrambling to find pieces of Ultima before anyone else can. It's become a free-for-all, and the battles are showing it. Orphan's Cradle was destroyed. Who knows what'll happen next..."

 

The city around them reminded her of Oerba: deserted and in ruins. Only this place was warmer. "So, where should we start?"

{Cloud}

Cloud nods while listening to Lightning's report. Cosmos hurt. Cloud seems to remember something like that before, but ignores it for now. He focuses on Lightning's question.

"Meteorfall?" He says. "Best place to start would be the Shinra records."

He thinks a moment.

"Most have been moved to Edge, but some of the more secret files would be in the Shinra Building."

Cloud looks over at Lightning.

"Which one you want try first?"

He gestures toward the Shinra Building.

"While the Shinra Building might be a better bet than the records in Edge, but harder to find."

Ah, beurocracy. The best way to make sure that no one gets any of the information they needs. Lightning sighed. "Let's try... Shinra? The building." This world had apparently been through a lot. She knew the feeling. "If we can find records there, there's no need to fry ourselves over just a chance elsewhere."

 

They moved towards the Shinra building. "So, what happened here?"

{Cloud}

Cloud looks around at the city.

"Long story." He says. "A former SOLDIER tired to destroy the world. He almost succeeded."

A cold shiver went down Cloud's spine when he though about Sephiroth. Cloud really hoped that Sephiroth had not been brought back for this cycle.

"Now we are rebuilding." He adds after a moment's silence. "Trying to fix what was destroyed."

Cloud sighs.

"Once this cycle is done."

Genesis saw them go towards the Shinra building, he sighed and called Cid.

"Doc, Lightning and cloud Strife are heading into the shinra Building, we don't want them to know, se you better hide." he said.

-meanwhile-

Zack thought for a moment.

"Hm, how about Zanarkand?" Zack suggested, the name just randomly popped in his head. Jaina opened a portal.

Dr Cid nods.

"Agreed." He says as he gathers up his stuff.

Where to hide? Not in the building. Dr Cid heads for a back entrance
