You remember in KH1 Riku took the Keyblade from Sora, well I guess I'm a bit slow. How did that happen? I know Riku should have gotten the Keyblade first, but srsly I dont under stand.

I agree about Riku's heart being stronger at the moment, but I'm pretty sure Birth by Sleep wasn't planned out at the time so anything involving Terra would just be coincedence.

I think there was an interview that Nomura mentioned Riku being the rightful wielder. He may have not planned on it being Terra but he had at least something in mind for that. I have too much homework to look for the interview now

By what I understood, it seems like Riku had more self-confidence about his abilities, therefore his heart was stronger than Sora's, who was desperate to find Kairi.. But yeah, it's a matter of who had the strongest heart for that moment.

Alright, its time for an intervention.

Riku was the intended owner of the keyblade. that is how it was supposed to be. However, he allowed darkness to enter his heart and thus he lost the keyblade. But he was always the one for whom the keyblade was meant. In Hallow Bastion, at that exact moment, his heart was stronger than Sora's once he revealed that he was the intended recipient. IT WAS AT THAT MOMENT THAT THE KEYBLADE BECAME HIS!!! When he was confronted in the Grand Hall, Sora's strength of heart was powerful enough to confuse Riku and thus for Sora to regain the upper hand that he had lost

Terra performed that ceremony with Riku, meaning that in the future, he would become a Keyblade wielder as well. The Keyblade was always meant to be his, but when Destiny Islands was destroyed, he gave in to the darkness. Because of this, the Keyblade went to the next best thing, which was Sora. During this time, Maleficent gave Riku his Soul Eater sword. When Riku and Sora confronted each other at Hollow Bastion, Riku's heart proved to be stronger than Sora's, earning him the Keyblade back. Then when Sora chose to fight Riku without a weapon, and believed in his heart, the Keyblade went back to Sora, who is now its PERMANENT wielder. At some point after fighting Sora at The Land of Dragons in KHII, Riku's Soul Eater turned into a Keyblade of his own: Way to the Dawn.

He didin't "steal" Riku's Keyblade his heart was stronger then Riku's and the Keyblade chose Sora instead of Riku, that's also why Sora has two Keyblade's.
