In Birth by sleep theres a weapon called the X-blade and SPOILER it is two kingdom keys with a heart. And Sora got a kingdom key and mickey got a different one. What does this mean

Featured Replies

Doesn't mean anything. Mickey's is from the Realm of Darkness, while Sora's was originally going to be Riku's, who would have gotten it from Terra.

It means nothing.

It means Nomura was lazy when designing it.

I second that he just did some editing with two kingdom keys to get it........

Well, Sora's Kingdom Key and Kingdom Key D, Mickey's, do represent the Light and Dark realms respectively. Light and Dark together merged to form the X-Blade, but... both are the silver, Sora, normal Kingdom Keys and not one of each. *shrug* So, really, means nothing.

Interesting slightly related factoid:

That's the insignia of the (Catholic) papacy. Two keys -- one gold, one silver, like Kingdom Key D and Kingdom Key -- crossed and connected at the bottom, representing the power to bind and loose everything in heaven and on earth. Each key has a cutout of a cross in place of its teeth, kind of like the Kingdom Key's crown cutout. The two keys themselves are known as the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.

UM what is supposed to mean..nothing at all

Mickey just got Sora's keyblade, but from the dark realm in order to close kingdom hearts' door. It means nothing.

i know this probably hasn't been explained yet, but if riku was definitely suppose to get sora's keyblade, how'd he end up getting his own keyblade? .. and does it actually say that particular key was suppose to be riku's?

His Soul Eater transformed into a Keyblade.

i wonder how that's even possible, there must be a certain criteria for someone to acquire a keyblade .. i wonder when we'll find out what that may be

Riku got the ability from Terra, since Terra performed the Rite of Sucession in BBS.

i understand that much but that shouldve only applied to the kingdom key if that was the one originally entitled to him, right? is it certain he didnt obtain the way to dawn through his own power?

Many keyblade in kingdom heart birth by sleep

the x-blade is only cool becuase there is a sword coming out of it. A sword! Sora has never wielded a weapon with a sharp edge.

Just because Sora got the kingdom key, it doesn't mean Riku had to get a kingdom key too, nor it means that Riku has lost the right to use a keyblade. At that moment the keyblade chose Sora. Afterwards Riku got his own keyblade, which takes shape according to its wielder's heart.

According to Nomura, the Soul eater was an intermediary weapon until Riku got Way to the Dawn, what truly mirrors his heart of Light and Darkness. So Riku did get a keyblade with his own power. He never lost the rights to wield it because it rejected him once.

And some other keyblades like the Oathkeeper do have a sharp edge.

Remember Soras wooden sword.

Part of the Ultima Keyblade is a sword, then there's also the Dream Sword.

anyone think we'll get to see sora wielding the x-blade since he has ven's heart?

No, the X-Blade was destroyed along with Vanitas.

Oblivion's "blade" resembles a sword and to me it looks very sharp...

you dont think it can just be recreated? i mean it exists alongside kingdom hearts, as long as kh exists shouldn't it be able to be summoned again?

It's not summoned, it's created. And the only way for it to be created is for a heart of pure light and a heart of pure darkness to combine. Sora, good guy as he may be, does not have a heart of pure light, so he cannot create, nor can he wield, the Keyblade.

It means nothing.
