Yesterday my dad was tellinq me how i needed to qet out of the house more and stoo beinq such a lazy ass and that i need to be more social. And maybe if he payed attention like a qood principle at school then maybe he would know i have NO friends. Sure i have like 2 or 3 but i can only see them at school and we have ko classes. My dad tells me stories about how he was alone when he was little and didnt have anyone and he said i would never understand what it feels like. But i do! He never listens. Its usually. "Ezperanza im tired qo do homework or somethinq" or "Ezperanza im not in the mood with you! You flunked and your in trouble!" He never listens to me and he wonders why i dont have a social life. Cause no one listens. How can i qet my dad to understand?

Well, my parents were like that when I was younger. I went out ALL the time because I had a boyfriend, I had a lot of friends and I was never home. But then I started to hate going out because all people did was drink and do really bad drugs and I wasnt into that. So then my parents got on the subject of how I changed, I need to be more social, make new friends, need to go out more... But everyone I met was into things I wasnt. Im a lot different than most people. So one day I just had enough of the bitching and I started yelling. I just said I like what I like, its not my fault I dont have things in common with people and what I do and like makes me happy. They finally stopped. They would start with me every once in a blue moon, but they would quickly stop.

 

And that's part of the problem. They dont understand because they dont listen. So you gotta find a way, your own way, to try to get him to listen. Whether its by yelling like I did, writing him a letter, just sitting him down... try to think of unique ways you can have an honest and open conversation with him.

I don't have a dad. Never have, never will. Well, I have a stepfather but I don't talk to him AT ALL. But I understand what it's like to have people who don't listen to you. My mother never listens to me and she always ends up doing the opposite of what I ask her to. My advice, is that you lead a life of your own. If they're not going to listen to you, then you should try some counceling. If they don't go(because it's their choice), then you shouldn't worry over it and keep yourself up at night, thinking what YOU did wrong when it's you who did NOTHING wrong and it's you whose the one whose trying to make things better. You should try and make more friends. Friends are my family now, they're the ones who keep me up. I'm here if you want to talk to me sis. Just send me a pm if I'm not online. But, if your dad isn't going to listen to you, he probably won't want to work this situation out with you. You should sit down with him and ask him point blant why he doesn't listen to you. If he doesn't give you a reason or says that you're lying or says something else that isn't true then he's just one whose going to keep on not listening to you so it's no use in trying to get him to listen to you if he refuses to hear what you have to say. I know it's fustrating though, I go through it everyday from my mother and brothers in my house so I completely understand you. I don't really have a social life outside the net so I don't really have friends that live around my neighborhood besides three or four. All my other friends that use to live in Florida moved

My advice is to do your homework and not flunk before you talk to him, that way he can't say that. And you could always try making more friends. Just talk to people, if it doesn't work out with one person talk to another. Look for people that you think you could be friends with. Like if I was you, and you went to my school, I would try to talk to the kid that wears an oathkeeper necklace to school everyday.. Of course I hate that kid, but you never know.

My dad is the kind of guy who always swears to give you the money he owes you. Then, when you ask about it a week later, he denies even owing you a penny and when you jog his memory, he says, "Did we have this on a contract?" then when I get him to sign a contract, he uses the name 'Mexica Hungar' and he always weasles his way out of owing people money. There's my dad for ya.
