tutti frutti. Fellow member devereauxr gave me the idea for this, so credit for this idea goes to this person. Moving on, does anyone think that there is really any light within the darkness. There is the story that Kairi's Grandmother tells in BBS and KH1, and then I guess the light/darkness battle in the final battle between Sora and Ansem SoD in KH1. I believe that there is light within darkness. More so since there has to be those that are willing to stand and fight against those that are willing to bring things out of order.

Darkness is the absence of light, therefore light must be within darkness.

It doesn't matter if you look at it literally or figuratively. It's the same.

If there's darkness within light, there's light within darkness.

Right it's like the yin yang symbol, there is a hit of the other within both light and darkness.

We wouldn't know darkness except for light and we wouldn't know light except for darkness. Darkness is peculuar in that even the smallest of candles can defeat it. Darkness can, however, hide light, leading to the thought that there is light in darkness.

The light within darkness refers to Kingdom Hearts within the realm of darkness. But it also refers to the power of light being within even those who use darkness, it all depends on their emotions rather than anything.

Without Light there wouldn't be Darkness. Without Darkness there would be no Light.

tutti frutti. But from the story that Kairi's grandmother told, wasn't there originally just light, at least up until everyone wanted the light for themselves. Ultimately, I think that darkness can be put away for good, though I doubt that it's going to happen in the series.

That's one of the strange thing about the series; The story the grandmother told was a more general legend version of the keyblade wars. The light referred to was supposed to be Kingdom Hearts; however, we really don't know whethere Kingdom Hearts is just light or light and darkness. Also, darkness is still pretty much a bad thing no matter who uses it (i.e. Terra got himself posessed for using the darkness), so it does seem like darkness can take a hike. Plus the realm of darkness is basically nothing but heartless, which by the way darkness apparently breaks your heart.

I think there was probably always darkness and light, and always will be, and it's just something everyone has to deal with. You can't really say there's darkness in light or light in darkness because truly, they always exist side-by-side.

tutti frutti. Yeah, I've been more lenient towards light and darkness being side by side, mostly since Mickey stated that light and darkness can't exist without the other. (I believe he said that in KH2 around the time of facing Xemnas) I can only imagine what would happen if one truly was put out for good. Such as there being only light or only darkness. Though I still kind of question this idea from the, tug-of-war (I guess), somewhat battle that Sora and Ansem SoD had in KH1 where Ansem wanted darkness out of Kingdom Hearts and Sora believed there was light.

I don't know. They kind of make it seem like the light could exist without darkness to me. Part of the reason Mickey changed his views were because of Riku using the darkness, but it seems like he might be quitting that. The whole concept of "balance" between light and darkness seems too...illogical. I'm going to get really philosophical here and just state that usually, when anything appears in balance, it's just a cosmic accident; that's how things ended up working out best, and so mother nature rolled with it. Darkness and light just happen to exist together within the hearts of everyone. Although what would happen if one was gotten rid of would make for an interesting plotline...

Of course, in a world where pizza is a vegetable, nothing really makes sense.

tutti frutti. I'm still baffled that pizza was passed as a vegetable, but hey it's the world we live in. As you have said nothing really makes sense, and I find that completely true if anything.

But for stories, I've always been turned off by how some are incosistent in their plots. Like for darkness for example. At first glance it was perceived as a major threat, but then again Riku proved that somewhat wrong, mostly due to being able to control it in order to help Sora. Though to me, I understand how some of the FF characters thought Sora was a Keyblade Master without knowing about the MoM exam.

There should be a balance in the overall story, let alone the balance between light and darkness.

Well, that stuff is due in part to the perceptions of the characters; this is basically what everyone in the story thought as true, but it turned out not to be. The whole "darkness isn't all bad" thing is actually a pretty common theme, even more so for people of the light being bad and overbearing *cough*Eraqus*cough*

I guess in the end, it's one of the great mysteries behind the truth about everything in Kingdom Hearts. I just noticed the other day how little is ever actually revealed in game and how much comes from reports in the game or interviews; few things are really clarified in cutscenes, especially when it relates to concepts such as this, and there are many things that we still don't know at all. But then again, it's supposed to be a mystery like the true nature of the heart and kingdom hearts and all that junk. Which, by the way, we know very little about Kingdom hearts too; I mean, we didn't even really see the true kingdom hearts until BBS, and we didn't really know it was a heart shaped moon until KH2 (And can we say closet Sailor Moon fan? lol). I'm sure they're making sure they can milk this series out for a while, at least until after the Xehanort saga.

tutti frutti. Point taken. Nomura sure does like to leave us in the dark about games, such as Kingdom Hearts, where little is revealed until he finds it necessary to do so. As you mentioned with Kingdom Hearts, I had pictured it to be the door at the end of KH1, until KH2 rolled around and was revealed that it was a heart shaped moon. But for the most part it really is hard to say on what Kingdom Hearts is in general, since it has been described as a number of things. Me, for the most part, would like to receive these answers so that there is universal meaning to what is what.
