It was because kairi was sora's light, and her hugging him caused the first stage of photosynthesis, the light-dependant reaction. Her light exciting his electrons managed [at least, eventually, after several other stages that went by quite quickly] to give him his sugarry human form

So...Sora is Kairi's cellulose?

He's got the thylakoid membrane to her sunlight, if you know what im saying.

Sora's heartless is the egg and kairi's light is the sperm. Totally deffeating the purpose of her being female, and Sora being a male. Kairi's light transfers into the Shadow-egg and the hug just masks what's really going on. So thus, Sora is reborn into a human. They live happily ever after. Until the ending of KH1.

I mean, remember that man in traverse town? He looked really weak, and when he turned into a heartless he became a soldier [stronger than shadows]
