KH to FF story and gameplay length

Posted

tutti frutti. Been playing a FF game recently and this came to my attention. I thought that it would be an interesting idea to maybe see a single KH game, for example KH3, be as long as a main numberical FF game. I know that it would take a crazy length of time for this to happen, but if it happened it would definitely be something to tide us over. Though it would be even longer for us to see the game unless some type of mericle happened. Would you want a single KH game to be as long as a FF game?

For the norm, I like KH the way it is. It's much more manageable. Although if they did this super long epic thing for KHIII, that might not be so bad. But they'll probably stick with the "30 hours on average" timing. :P I'd like it longer though. I just tend to take more like 40 now because of leveling up and stuff a ton. xD

The only FF game I own is Crisis Core, and I haven't picked that up in forever. 1) Because the maps in some places are too extensive (wherever that place you go to when you team up with Sephiroth early-ish on), and 2) Just because I know this game is going to take forever. :P

It would be great that means more of the world you can see and better game play, won't have to see the little black screen it will just keep going until you get to the place you need to go. plus in PS3 3D it would be awesome to play but take a long time.

I love FF but only FF7 and FF13 and it would be great.

No, Just No. These games would start to suck, just as the FF games have.

There's no "Hate" option for Pokeneon's post.

I'd love the KH games to be around 40-ish hours long, but they'd have to be standalone titles. They're so short now because they all connect; they don't have to be long to tell their story as they're just one piece.

So I'd love it, but it's not such a good idea.

How long are we talking about? Sorry, I haven't actually completed a FF game. I like the length right now, but around 40 hours would be good. 50 hours could be good, but eh. Anything longer is meh, as most games can't keep my attention that long.

Most FF games are longer then 50 hours depending on how good you do

I have played the majority of main Final Fantasy games and if you play it to see the story through, which means no big detours, they're long around 40 hours each. Only exception would be Final Fantasy X and XII which can reach the 50 hour mark.

Someone mentioned Final Fantasy Crisis Core, that one is actually only about 10 hours long so I wouldn't be afraid of the length.

I would love it if they did that, then that would mean SE would think KH is as significant as FF, but it would take forever. People were saying that BBS was the longest KH game so far, but it seemed to go by too fast to me. KH2 seemed to be the longest because it always too me about 65-85 hours to beat it, though that's probably because I play too slow. KH always took me 31 hours to beat. How many hours were these games supposed to be anyway?

i dont know but maybe it could be nice for kh games to be long

Most FF games don't go past 40-60 hours if you just do the main storyline (which is all there really is in Kingdom Hearts).

(Good) FF games have tons of sidequests, when you decide to do all of the optional stuff, that's when the games become extremely long xD. I've racked up over 90 hours on FF IX because it has so many sidequests.

Anyways, it would be cool to have KH3 be somewhat longer than all of the other games. Seeing as how it's basically the final bang of the Xehanort saga (I really don't see myself being excited for a new conflict after Xehanort) xD.

I would really enjoy that, but I don't really see it being realistic. If us KH fans moan about not getting a new game every year or so, we would be so screwed if SE decided to make them as long as FF games. I've logged 93 hours on FFXII and that was mainly story (I play nice and slow) I've logged about 50 hours on FFIV as well.

tutti frutti. To me, I think that it would be pretty good to get at least one KH game to be as long as a FF game. With the story and the sidequests that would go along with the game, at least it would be something to help keep us busy for a while. Depending on how we approach a FF game, we could get as long as what Razuthor said about playing FFXII and FFIV, which to me is definitely getting the most of the game so long as it holds true to our expectations. But then again, it would also depend on those of use that focus purely on that game. To me, there seems to be more and more games that take a shorter period of time to breeze through, though they still costs between $40 - $60 for each game. For those of us that have school, work, families, etc. to deal with everyday only to beat a game that costs that much and only beat it in 2 - 4 days makes me kind of question those same games. I'm thinking about getting it, I've heard that the game Skyrim is roughly 200 hours long if you combine the sidequests with the storyline. (For those that have/play the game feel free to correct me)

I agree with this. Even though KH takes around 40-60 hours to beat (depending on how well you play), I feel like Kingdom Hearts could use a longer story and sidequests. I know there's a bunch of time to be invested into Kingdom Hearts games, however, but it still seems to be lacking in some senses. I want to be able to do more than just beat an ass at the Coliseums. I also wish that in returning to the different worlds, more problems would arise (I mean both in the main story AND for sidequests.)so the game doesn't feel as linear as it may. I am not expecting a whole lot of side things from 3D, but in future titles I'd like to see more than just plot progression. If I don't, I'll be disappointed but I'll still love Kingdom Hearts. :D Oh, and I guess Skyrim can take 200+ hours depending on how good you are/play style. Time flies when playing it, though. :P
