The ones left alive had their hopes and dreams drowned
for they realized their loved ones had died.

The Titanic was the largest ship in its day. Indestructible, or so they thought. Thousands lined up for its maiden voyage, yearning to be free of their homeland and travel to America on the world's most powerful oceanic force. What no one could have predicted was that mother nature is cruel, and mother nature is fond of icebergs.

You, of any age, of any race, gender, or nationality, have purchased a ticket on this ship. How you get aboard is of your own choosing, but in the end, catastrophe favors no one. If only you had known what was coming before you bought that ticket. Maybe you would have turned around.

Rules:
This is going to be a quality Roleplay. It won't be insanely strict, but you will be required to type properly.

1) You must, at the very least, attempt to use proper spelling and grammar. An error here and there is no big deal; nobody is perfect. If you can't spell well or are not grammatically adept, please don't sign up. (May I also note that no one is grammatically inadept, it just requires a teensy bit of effort.)

2) There is a sad, but true basis for this RP. You are not on godmode, and you will not have guns and rockets or superpowers. You are an average human being with none of those things.

3) Your character doesn't have to die. Even after the Titanic sunk, there was an enormous amount of drama and inquires and both America and Britain regarding the sinking. It was a matter of life or death for even those who survived.

4) Yes, some people may choose to have their characters die, but let's not come up with some bloody disgusting description. Let's try not to make this some gross R-Rated thing.

5) An occasional curse word is in order, but I don't want anybody dropping the f-bomb every few words or something.

As to distinguish characters more easily, please do each in a different color. For instance, one character's passage could be in green, another's in purple, ect. ect. One could be in black and one in blue. It really doesn't matter as long as they're different.

"G'bye, Uncle! Thanks again for everything!"

 

Mink Jones stepped out of his uncle's dingy blacksmith shop and into the chilly spring air. He had but a small leather pack, containing only the last bit of money he had and a small stack of cheap parchment, as well as an inkwell his uncle had been able to haggle for as a goodbye present. He had made many good memories during his stay in Southampton, but it would be nice to finally be home again. Oh, he couldn't wait to taste his mother's freshly baked bread again! Just the thought made his mouth water.

 

Speaking of water, he finally remembered why he was out here in the first place; the Titanic! He fumbled around in his pockets, frantically checking for his ticket.

 

"Ah, here you are, little bugger!" Mink snatched it out of the breast pocket of his suit, inspected it carefully for damages, and then replaced it, patting his pocket. "You cost me a pretty penny, you did. Wouldn't want'chu gettin' lost now!" And, with all of his worries put to rest, he trotted down the street and towards the docks, where the unsinkable ship awaited.

"Father, I'm bored." Joshua Bates reclined the comfortable satin seat of his father's new buggy. "How much longer until we reach the port?"

 

"Just a little bit longer, sir," the family butler, John, answered instead. "Don't you worry your wee little head--you'll get there soon enough!" He let out a huge belly laugh, and Joshua couldn't help but smile. John was the only person he didn't constantly want to strangle, though he hadn't a clue why. For the time being, though, he decided to preoccupy himself by looking out the window at the miles of scenery passing by them. Cows, grass, rivers, more cows, trees, pastures, even more cows. Hmph. This area was dreadfully boring. And it wasn't like there was anything else to do to pass the time; chatting with Father was out of the question, and, though he loved him, conversations with John were usually extremely dry. So, for the time being, Joshua decided to rest his eyes. Just for a little while.

"Wow! It's huge William!" Crystal cried out. The Titanic was bigger than she thought it would be. She watched in amazement as she saw passengers with long fancy dresses, or dirty small clothes waiting to board the Titanic. 'This is it, no turning back now.' She thought as the driver parked where other cars were parked. Some servants picked up her and her brother's suitcases and took them to their room. She got out as the driver opened the door for her smiling and said. "You are very lucky Miss Davis, have fun!"

"I will Brian!" Crystal replied.

 

William laughed as his sister bounced excitedly. He admit, it is a huge ship, maybe 8 times bigger than their mansion back home. The beauty of it just take his breath away. "Come on! Let's board the ship!" Crystal took his arm and dragged him toward the ship, chattering all the wonderful things she's gonna do on the ship.

Ada snuck out of the house a small leather bag over her shoulder. She checked that her ticket was in her pocket and slowly closed the door so not to be detected by the rest of her family. She sighed in relief once outside and it suddenly hit her that she really was leaving this place. She smiled in delight and made her way on foot to the ship, Titanic..." She whispered the words felt like silk on her tongue and caused shivers to run down her spine. That was nothing compared to when she first laid eyes on the ship. Ada spent a good five minutes just staring in awe until she was pushed by the crowd, she snapped out of the dreamy fog and walked toward the ship. " Oh my its so much bigger then i expected, how is something that big supposed to float?" She asked herself dumb founded at the docked ship floating easily on the water. Ada started to looked around at the crowd of her fellow passengers some so fancy she had a hard time looking directly at them, others caused her to wonder how they afforded the ticket. She couldn't keep the smile from her face though, everything was so perfect like the many dreams she had about this day.

Anberlin was more than happy to walk up the skinny, wobbling plank used to board passengers. It was a bit of a challenge in her lacey cream heels, but a board wasn't going to be enough to hold her back. The rough ocean wind blew her pinned-up hair out of the diamond pins holding it there and splattered it across her face. Following her was a sailor who had offered to carry her suitcases. The man checking tickets must have realized she clearly had enough status to board, so he waved her on without even asking to check her ticket. As she was led to her room, Anberlin couldn't help but be astounded by the beauty of the ship. "This room, ma'am," The sailor grunted as he sat down her brand-new suitcases. He unlocked her door and presented her with the brass key. Anberlin hardly acknowledged him, and immediately plopped down on the soft, fancy bed provided. It was definitely first-class, which was a thought that couldn't make her any happier. The sailor sat her things just inside the door and then awkwardly closed the door, leaving Anberlin alone. She smelled the puffy sheets, that reeked of cleanliness. She whispered, and a smile broke out on her face. "Perfect."

 

Someone almost shoved Tea off of the gangplank. She knew better than to shoot a dirty look at a person of higher class, though. Mrs. Lillian walked a few steps ahead of her, and Tea lagged behind, weighed down by Lillian's thousand-ton suitcases. Mrs. Lillian was absolutely delighted to see her first-class cabin, and Tea was surprised by the fanciness aboard a ship. Weren't ships supposed to be icky? "Where should I put my things?" Tea gasped, still amazed by the decorated cabin.

 

Mrs. Lillian laughed, as if such a question were absurd. "Why, in your sleeping place, of course."

 

Tea was taken aback. "I get a room to myself?" Luxurious thoughts flashed through her mind. Thoughts she'd never dared to imagine--wearing fancy dresses, sitting down to elite dinners, falling in love with rich men, decorating her hair with expensive things... Mrs. Lillian laughed again.

 

"Of course not. You can sleep in steerage. Come up at 7 A.M. sharp every morning."

Jade and her family left their house and headed towards the boat. "So it could be a fresh start, more riches?" Jade asked her sister, Cat. Jade's family was all going and it was filled with two girls, her and Cat, a younger brother of age 5, Josh, and her mom and dad, Peter and Sally. Cat looked over at Jade, "Yes, it could be." Cat said. Jade was always searching for a way to break free of her rich family ways, cause she didnt really care for money and believe heart is more important. When they arrived on the Titanic, they got inside their cabins. Jade shared with her sister, and their room was so huge that it could almost fit 10 beds inside it. "I just hope things will be different here." Jade said. "Will you forget that, you got to remember that we have everything, the way it should be." Cat said putting on her white gloves.

 

Avan was the only one in his family getting on board. He waved back to his family and walked on board the ship. Avan was boarding for he believe that he could restart life and become the type of person he wanted to be with more than what he had. He could never see why he wanted more, but it felt that something was missing in his life. He got into his middle class room and laid down on the bed. "Man, I hope this is a new start. Hopefully it will be, but who can say for sure." Avan said.

Mink stood in awe, staring at the ship in front of him.

 

"It's big...it's huge...i-it's...titantic!" He could barely suppress his happiness; he had never even been in a BUILDING that huge, much less a boat! He practically ran to the dock, anxious to get into the floating palace. Once he had finally boarded, Mink inspected his ticket. "Hmm...I'm on F Deck. That's down below, isn't it?"

 

"You bet it is!" He turned to see a skinny chestnut-haired boy standing behind him. He looked about Mink's age, was dressed in a white shirt and a pair of grubby trousers, and was grinning broadly. "You're in third-class too, eh?"

 

Mink smiled shyly. "Yep!"

 

"Let's see, let's see..." The boy snatched the ticket out of Mink's hand and scanned his eyes over it. "Hey, we're in the same room! How great is that?" He draped an arm over his new companion's shoulders. "The name's Roger Johnson, friend, and we're going to have a great time together!"

 

"Mink Jones, it's a pleasure." He held out his hand to shake, but Roger just snorted.

 

"We don't shake, mate. That's for them upperdecks. You and I, we don't need that hodgepodge. Come on now, let's get to our room!" It took a bit of searching, but they finally found it. It surprisingly wasn't that bad; at least not as bad as the ship he had ridden on his trip here. He shuddered. Never again. He placed his things on one of the beds and sat down letting out a sigh of contentment as Roger explored their new quarters.

 

"Now, I KNOW this trip is going to be perfect."

"Sir? Sir, we're here!" John pushed a sleeping Joshua awake. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, groaning at the sudden rush of sunlight. But it was true; they were finally there.

 

The ship was massive; even his father was impressed, Joshua could tell by the way he was gaping like a dying fish.

 

"Impressive, isn't it, Father?" He didn't answer. John, with the help of a porter, carried their bags up the dock and onto the deck. The salty sea air drifted lazily around them, causing him to shiver and pull his royal blue cloak tighter around himself. "Can we hurry up and find our rooms, already?"

 

"Of course, sir." John led them up to their cabins on Deck A, dropping off Mr. Bates, and then Joshua. He looked relieved when he was finally able to put the mountains of bags down. "You certainly don't like traveling light, do you, sir?" He groaned. But his eyes were smiling.

 

Joshua smiled back. "A servant talking back to his master? How despicable." He playfully cuffed him on the arm, and then sighed once again. "I'm not looking forward to this trip at all, John, I'm really not."

 

​"Oh, hogwash." The butler shook his head. "Don't go and talk like that now. I know how much you hate having to accompany your father on these trips, and listen to his mindless drivel, but why not make the best of it? You're not going to get anything done just whining like that. Now, let me just fix your tie and, oh, your hair is a bit mussed from when you were sleeping..."

 

"Knock it off, John! I swear, you're just like a mother hen!" He swiped his hand away, before his only friend smiled and closed the door. Now he was truly alone. Joshua sighed and lay back down on the bed.

Allen looked at Titanic and thought:"It is impressive indeed, but still I feel little bit uneasy" Allen felt still little bit sleepy after long drive. Allen remembered how he was first invited on Titanic, his good friend had said that it would be good way to relax, but Allen couldn't reach him with his eyes. Allen went on board and went on his room and looked around: his luggage was already there. "This place looks pretty good", Allen said by himself and took his black coat off, "It has been long time since I have been on cruise"

After Allen had changed his clothes he took his watch and opened it, there was picture of his parents there. "You would like to see this aswell don't you?" Allen asked from picture, closed his watch and putted it on his vest pocket. Allen knotted his tie and sitted on his bed and opened his violin case. "Now could I get some inspiration before dinner?" Allen said and started to play:Violin concerto op. 47 d-minor by Jean Sibelius. It was one of the Allen's favourites.

As Allen played he looked looked at painting in his room, it was stormy, sad, but still very well made and somehow suited on Allen's playing. "I wonder what kind of people I meet on this trip, well this will be fun anyway", Allen said and continued playing, sitting on the bed, looking on the painting. (Can someone tell what the clock is right now in this RP?)

Suzy struggled with her left boot, pulling and yanking on it. "Come on! The other fit just fine!" she complained to her boot. Finally, it fit nicely, and she grabbed her only suitcase. Suzy was half-way out the door before she remembered something. "Almost forgot me hat." she murmured, putting on the worn out cap. She sprinted down the street, before arriving at a house with faded green shudders. "Fern! Come on, come on!"

 

 

"We just want you to be safe, darling." Fern's mother cooed. "Yes, yes. I know." Fern replied, gently shoving past her mother. "Fern! Come on, come on!" she heard Suzy calling outside. "I have to go, mother and father." She looked over her shoulder, and gave a half-hearted smile before joining her friend outside. "Wotcher." Suzy greeted, grinning. Fern sighed. "I swear, Suzy, you have not changed since we were twelve." Suzy grinned even more, and grabbed her hand. "Come on, now, we don't want to be late!" The two hurried down the street, until arriving at the dock. "Look at the size of it!" Fern exclaimed. She handed her ticket to the man at the end of the gangplank, who accepted her ticket, and directed her to the economy decks. She watched her friend give her ticket, the man crinkling his nose in digusst at her. "I'll see you later." Fern said, walking down to her room. Suzy waving goodbye, and headed to her deck. I'm on the Titanic. Fern thought. I'm really on the Titanic.

When they arrived to their room, the first thing Crystal did was explore the Titanic. Everything she sees made her eyes sparkle in admiration. 'If my parents were here, they would flip!' Crystal thought. When she was just about to explore another room, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Crystal turned to see one of her servant smiling casually as he said. "The boat is about to set sail Miss Davis, I would suggest you wave good bye to the fellow people outside?"

Crystal's face bright up, "The boat is about to sell?! Crystal went over to the railing off the ship and peered at the crowds below.

 

William sighed as his sister dashed out the door. 'She just won't stop could she?' He thought. He looked out the window of his room to see thousands of people below waving to the people on the Titanic.

Vivianne descended from the carriage, careful not to step on her traveling cloak. A slight breeze caused dark wisps of pinned hair to tickle her cheeks. Grey eyes wandered, first lingering on the jittery horses that directed the carriage to the crowds of cheering people and finally on the Titanic, the ship that was as big as a leviathan if not bigger. Vivianne's mother, Danielle, climbed out after her dressed in similar attire; traveling cloak and dress, neatly pinned hair underneath a boater hat. When Henri, her father, looked up at the Unsinkable his composure slipped for a moment to reveal an expression of complete wonder. Her family did not expect the Titanic to be this large or this beautiful even with all the advertising the White Star Line had done. Their surveillance was interrupted by the beckoning of Vivianne's grandmother who still sat comfortably with her grandfather inside the carriage.

 

"Vivi, my dear, you forgot your gift," Grams reminded her with a smile.

 

With a gasp, Vivianne strove forward as Grams handed her a small bundle of black fur. It was a nine month old Labrador Retriever her grandparents had given her as a late birthday gift. The puppy was adorably small and Vivianne was able to hold comfortably against her bosom. Regrettably she hadn't be able to give her a name yet. Her mother had always said for someone who loved animals so much, she was terrible at choosing names.

 

"Aren't you going to say your goodbyes?" Mama suggested.

 

Vivianne jumped. Being a fairly quiet, Vivianne hardly spoke if at  all. Skipping the pleasantries, she said softly, "I love you, Grams and Gramps."

 

Gramps gave her his familiar eye smile that she and her mother seemed to have inherited. "As we love you, child."

 

Vivianne inclined her head slowly and let her parents give them one final farewell. Cradling the puppy to chest as she did, Vivianne turned to survey the Titanic in all her glory. It wasn't like you were able to erase the Ship of Dreams with one glance. She was in your complete field of vision, dominating you with her size and stature. Until her field of vision was dotted with the athletic build clad in a grey tailored suit that only a first class passenger would wear. He was staring down at what was a golden pocket watch and seemed to stand uncomfortably close. With hesitation, Vivianne tapped him. This seemed to shake him out of his daze and he looked down at her with the bluest eyes before realizing what position they in. He half-smiled and said in an upper class English accent, "My apologies."

 

Bowler hat tipped over his brow, Tristan leaned against the fancy automobile that was his mode of transportation and waited as patiently as he could for his man to emerge. Try as he might to project an indifferent appearance, Tristan was very eager to board the Titanic. Despite the initial course of action that went with inheriting a rather large fortune and forming a business of your own, Tristan had spent most of his free time reading and researching upon the Titanic. The very idea of such a huge ocean liner intrigued him and he couldn't help but feel a boyish excitement every time he heard the name or saw the ship.

 

When his man came to inform him that his luggage and belongings were to be brought onto the ship shortly after he would board the ship, Tristan immediately made his way through the crowds, careful to avoid the third class passengers being checked out for lice. Subconsciously, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his golden pocket watch to check the time. It was only half an hour until the ship would leave the docks and the very idea filled him with that familiar boyish excitement.

 

Just then, a sharp tap on his shoulder seemed to awaken him from his reverie. He looked down to himself inappropriately close to a second class passenger couldn't have been more than seventeen. She didn't speak but grey eyes looked at him expectantly, waiting with patience that he did not seem to possess. The very thought brought a small smile to his lips and he said, "My apologies." She inclined her head politely, accepting his words. Tipping his hat off to her in turn, he walked with sure footing repeating the words under his breath and in his thoughts. I'm boarding the Titanic.

Anberlin sat for a while, and was beginning to doze off when she heard a loud whistle. She jumped up instantly, and peeked out her cabin door. Outside, sailors were joking with each other cheerfully as the ship began to slowly twist away from the dock. With an unnatural level of excitement, Anberlin darted out of her cabin and tried to squeeze her way onto the railings. They were already packed, with no open room, but she had no problem with rudely shoving fellow passengers out of her way. She had to make a bun, held up only by one hand, to keep her hair from blowing in her eyes and blinding her. The water glistened darkly below, and the streets glowed beautifully. She smiled and leaned over the railing a bit--it was a gorgeous sight and, hopefully, the end of a boring life in England.

 

Tea was still miffed about being denied a real cabin. Instead, she pushed through the crowds of people beginning to settle in steerage until she found her cot. It was an old, frayed thing, of a stiff gray cotton-like material. Tea couldn't help but be disappointed. This wasn't the way she'd planned to start things anew. Either way, getting a ticket had been a miracle in itself, so having even only this was better than having nothing. She felt the ship sway fiercely, and guessed they were starting their journey. Tea was surprised when she spoke aloud. "As the caretakers used to say, every good day starts with sleep."

Crystal waved at the crowds below as the Titanic started to move. 'Good bye my old miserable life, and hello a fresh new start!' "There you are." She heard William's voice. She turned to see William walking over to her. "I've been looking for you everywhere, you shouldn't keep wandering the Titanic alone." William said. Crystal rolled her eyes. "Brother, it's not like I'm gonna get kidnapped or anything. Besides, my servants always watch me, so don't worry." Crystal turned her back on him and continued to wave at the crowds.

Suzy walked down to the steerage, shoving past the throngs of people. 'Blimey, how many steerage passengers are there?' Finally, she found her cot and sat on it. "Just like home." she said to herself. She looked at her cot neighbor, who was a tall girl with short blonde hair. Suzy smiled at her. "'Ello. Name's Suzy Blue."

 

 

Fern found her way to her cabin, which was quite small. "Well, its not so horrible." she mused setting her only suitcase down on the bed. Hearing a whistle outside, she scrambled out of room, and to the upper decks. "Oh, we're setting sail!" she said happily. Fern looked out in the crowds, and easily picked out her mother and father. She waved at them, for this might be last time she ever saw them again.

Allen heard whistle and felt how ship started to leave. Allen went to walked on board. He tried to find someone who he already knew, but couldn't find anyone familiar looking. Allen sighed and thought: "This is what I get for being so unsocial with my work"

After looking places up Allen searched for something to drink, he wasn't too much on alcohol so he just took water and sitted on his cabin. It was very nice, good smell, chair made of fine leather.

Allen went in front of mirror, mirror was symmetrical and very good looking, Allen looked at himself and noticed how bad looking his hair was. Allen tried to put it better, but it was no good, in fact he never hadn't been able to make his hair look good. Actually it looked pretty good, but it always was how it just happened to be.

Allen got pretty quickly bored to be alone in his cabin and went outside.

Allen liked smell of sea and it was sunny and maybe little bit windy weather, very good in Allen's opnion. Allen leaned on railing and thought: "Is there anyone I could just start talk to?" Allen got neutral look in his face and stared at England which he left behind.

Same time Allen saw woman, pretty rich looking and beautiful about ten metres away. "Who that could be?" Allen wondered.

Tristan was in the middle of reading when a whistle sounded and the cheers on and outside of the boat grew louder. He deposited the the leather bound book on the oak table beside his sofa chair and went to head to the outside to see the source of the fuss. Making his way up the boat deck, he saw the crowds below littered with multicoloured flags; all waving eratically. Everywhere he could, he heard words of farewell, of joy, of good luck. He allowed himself a smile and waved back to the crowds, making eye contact with a few. Until he realized he was standing next to Anberlin Caché, who waved demurely to the crowd. He had made her acquaintance a year ago or so, having chatted and danced with her at the subsequent parties that followed. While high-handed at times, Tristan found Anberlin incredibly appealing and enjoyed being in her company.

 

His smile turned flirtatious as their eyes, a clash of blue, brown and sea green, met. "What a welcome surprise."

 

The waters were churning and Vivianne felt the vibrations within the ship down to her bones. Giddiness burst inside of her and she grinned down at the Lab she continued to cradle. The ship was moving, it was actually moving. She felt the breeze even more strongly now that she had removed her boater hat and left it in her room. It was pleasantly cool and as the port of Southhampton moved at a steady pace, everything felt so right, there was just no way to describe it. The excitement inside her grew when she knew she would be seeing the coast of France later in the day, to pick up even more passengers in Cherbourg.

 

Adjusting her black skirts, Vivianne slowly made her way off the promenade deck and of their own accord, her grey eyes wandered to the boat deck where she found herself staring at the first class passenger that had bumped into her earlier. He was arm in arm with what seemed to Vivianne, the most beautiful girl she had ever seen. The both of them seemed engrossed in one another, wrapped up in their own world as most the first class usually were.

 

Vivianne looked away with discomfort, feeling as if she had interrupted a private moment. Forebodingly, her excitement now marred with the recognizable feeling of apprehension.

Anberlin was a little caught of guard at the sound of Tristan's voice. It took her a moment to identify him, but she immediately curtsied politely. "Well, well, Mr. McAvoy. It's been a while." Anberlin giggled sweetly. Her heart swelled a bit at the sight of him. It'd been quite a while since they'd seen each other, and most every night she cursed herself for not having asked for his address. "I've been hoping to run into you again." She blinked in a way that she hoped was flirtatious. Admittedly, Anberlin was a flirt. She knew that she was rich and beautiful, and she milked that for all it was worth.

 

Tea was growing increasingly frustrated. Hadn't the ship already left the dock? So why were these passengers so noisy? Infants cried, children called for their friends and their mothers, and young adults and their caretakers shouted anxiously as they lost sight of each other. Tea pulled her dirty, used pillow over her ears. It drowned out little of the chatter. Realizing her attempt was pointless, Tea tried not to fall as she climbed out of the crampness of steerage and to the decks above.

After the ship left the dock, Crystal left to go to the dining room again. She love everything about it, the tables, the chairs, and the musicians playing so well. She felt like she was in heaven. "May I help you m'am?" A waiter asked. "Oh not thanks, just exploring. The dining room is wonderful by the way." Crystal answered. The waiter smiled. "I'm glad you like it."

 

William sighed as Crystal dashed off. 'I swear, one day she's gonna trip on her shoes and fall face flat on the floor.' William returned to his room and took out a piece of paper. 'I should start writing my book now.' He thought.

I mentioned the names of the fictional first class passengers in this. I hope you none of you mind.

 

During the course of the day, Tristan spent time exploring Titanic with Anberlin at his side. She dragged him everywhere, 'ooh'ing and 'aah'ing at quite literally everything first class had to offer. But of course, like anyone of high status she did not think once of descending the lower levels of the the ship and Tristan did not mention the morbid curiosity to do so that was currently biting him. When dinner came around, they caught up on everything since the last time they had seen each other. Tristan sat with recognizable members of first class such as Jade West, Allen Mactavish, Joshua Bates and the like. By the end of the discussion, Tristan was entirely out of things to say. If Anberlin noticed, her expression did not show it for she was chattered excitedly with Crystal Davis. Tristan found himself pondering at when they would arrive at Cherbourg, France as it seemed awfully late. His thoughts were interrupted by Captain Edward James Smith himself called the assembly to attention.

 

"In a few minutes," he smiled politely at all of them. It was easy to tell how proud of he was to be commandeering this ship. "We will arrive at our next stop, Cherbourg, France. Due certain delays, we have arrived a bit late. Nevertheless, we bade you to come welcome the new passengers aboard and make them feel at home."

 

It was well known that the majority of the passengers about to be boarded were mostly first and second class. No one would miss the chance to greet who of the higher class was going to come aboard. Thankful for something to do, Tristan escorted Anberlin out of the First Class Dining Room.

 

It was at a times like these Vivianne wished she had a pocket watch. She knew it must be nearing 8:00 o'clock due to the lowering sun within the clouds, the orange rays diluted by the descending darkness. The wind was cool and Vivianne was thankful for the shawl that was wrapped around her. The Labrador played by her feet, with a leash hooked onto a leather collar. She was still getting used to her surroundings but this did not stop the puppy from demanding Vivianne's constant attention almost always. She had come up with a variety of names she wanted to name the dog but she couldn't quite decide on one. Her parents were part of the welcoming party who were to greet the second class passengers coming in from Cherbourg and Vivianne took this opportunity to walk her pet on the promenade deck. And how opportune it was to, for she could see the coast of France she'd looked forward to seeing.

 

Momentarily, Vivianne became aware of the absence of a leash in her gloved hand. Her grey eyes rose to find her puppy scurrying up the steps to the boat deck. Vivianne let out a panicked gasp. While second class members were allowed up on the boat deck, many did not roam there due to the first class passengers making the social differences between the two classes almost painfully obvious. Vivianne cursed silently and rushed after the animal, trying to grab the trailing leash. She imagined herself like quite the inelegant bat the entire time and this train of thought did not help any.

 

Unexpectedly, the movement of the leash stilled and Vivianne looked up into blue eyes she would had recognized anywhere. It was the same man, the same first class passenger and he held her puppy in his hands, her tail wagging at rapid pace. Vivianne did nothing but let her eyes widen at the sight of him. She waited on the spot to be the victim of social ridicule and found that they were quite alone on the boat deck. Then the man did the most unexpected thing Vivianne could have ever imagined in a member of the first class. He sat down on one of the deck chairs, fully supporting the Labrador in his arms as he did so and motioned for Vivianne to come join him.

 

She stood there uncertainly for a moment before staring her pet directly in the face, who looked surprisingly comfortable in the man's arms. With a quiet sigh, Vivianne went to join him and wondered what had and would transpire.

'I wonder where Fern's gone off to...' Suzy wondered. She crossed her arms unhappily. "Too bad I'm stuck 'ere in this dreadful 'ole." she muttered, looking around the cabin. Flopping on the bed, she took out a quill, ink, and an empty journal and began writing in it.

 

Day 1

Just got on the ship, and I'm stuck in the steerage. Maybe I should've taken up Fern's offer for a ticket, but I'm on at least!

 

Fern noticed that there were more first class passengers as she walked around on the upper decks, but she didn't care. She noticed the wrinkled noses, the upturned chins, and the odd looks, but she was too happy to care. 'I'm on the Titanic! I'm going to America!' she thought, finding her way to the second-class dining room. She sat down, an ordered simply a glass of water for the moment, as she watched the rolling sea from the window.

"Ah, this is the best food I've had in a while!" Mink patted his stomach in satisfaction.

 

"Aye, brother, I can certainly drink to that! Haven't had anything this good since I lived with me mum and dad!" Roger gave him a cheerful pat on the back. He then turned his attention to the other man sitting with them, who Mink recognized as one of their bunkmates. He hadn't talked or even made eye contact with either of them the entire time. "What's your name, lad?"

 

"Oh, um, John, John Rixby." The man fiddled with his frail wire glasses, which Mink noticed had a hairline crack on one of the lenses.

 

"Well, John, what's your story?"

 

"Pardon?" Now he looked well and truly confused.

 

"Your story. What are ya doing here? You obviously aren't on a pleasure trip." Roger laughed raucously.

 

"My master, Mr. Bates--"

 

"Oh, you're working for Bates are you?" Roger wrinkled his nose contemptuously. "Must be a real good time living with Sir Joshua." He made a big show of rolling his eyes.

 

Joshua Bates? Mink wondered. Why does that name sound so familiar?

Joshua sat at the first-class dining table he shared with some of the other passengers. He hadn't a clue what they were talking about, but he figured it was dreadfully boring. He recognized Tristan McAvoy and the girl he was with--what was her name? Amber? Andrea?--but everyone else was completely foreign to him. A couple had tried to strike up a conversation with him, but he shot them all down as quickly as they began. He wanted it to be entirely clear that he wasn't here to make friends.

 

Luckily, his father wasn't here, but neither was John. For once, he actually found himself missing the stupid oaf. Joshua sighed. He wished he could have visited, but the restrictions against the mingling of the classes--wait! What was he thinking? He was Joshua Bates for crying out loud! He could do what he damn well pleased, never minding how much it might hurt his father's business.

 

"It was a lovely dinner, everyone, I was glad to make your acquaintance, but I really must be going," he excused himself, lying through his teeth. And with that, he strode out of the dining room and down to the F Deck.

Allen had enjoyed his meal and sitted in dining room, it was very cozy and everything looked so nice and clean. Music was good although Allen would have wanted to play by himself. Allen had eated with some other first class passengers. He had heard most of them, but never talked. If Allen remembered correctly, he had seen Anberlin and maybe Tristan in his concert in England, but Allen didn't try to talk about it since he wasn't sure.

Allen was intrested in siblings of Davis' family. Allen had meeted their father once and Allen really didn't like him and Allen had heard alot of things about his cheating. Still Allen didn't want to ruin anyones meal by talking about things like that.

Next day Allen was on deck with other people and he noticed some steerage passengers coming on deck. Allen didn't really took too much of attention on them, but still was polite and he never hadn't been intrested on how wealthy people were.

Allen looked forward to see France, last time he had visited there when he was 12.

Tension was lined in every part of the girl's body as she stayed near him. Her very gaze was sowed with discomfort as she looked at the puppy Tristan continued to pet in his arms. He had expected her to speak by now but she was as quiet as the grave, staring through him. In all honesty, he hadn't thought he would ever do something such as inviting her to sit with him but he had.

 

A large procession had gone to welcome the first class members onto the ship, Anberlin included. Tristan found the whole thing dreadfully dull and had excused himself from her company. At first, she had protested but told her he simply needed a moment to himself. While walking on the boat was not like walking through the streets of London or on the grounds of his family estate, he found his walk pleasing enough. And then he saw he saw the most peculiar sight. A second class passenger; the very same girl he ran into before the ship had left the Southhampton port, walking a black Labrador Retriever puppy on the promenade deck. The girl's face was thoughtful, her eyes focused on the horizon. It was the most intriguing and lovely sight Tristan had seen all day. She was so absorbed in her thoughts that she unintentionally loosened her grip on the leash and unwittingly, the puppy chose the direction Tristan had secretly been wishing she'd walk to.What intrigued him the most was how she hadn't spoken once in their two encounters.

 

"Is the puppy female?" She jumped at the sound of his voice. She gazed at him, eyes wary. With their close proximity, he could tell her eyes were a silvery grey. She gave him a slow nod. "And purebred too, I believe," he mused aloud. "She must've cost a rather large sum." Trying to coax an answer out of this girl was like trying to make a wild animal approachable.

 

She played with gloved fingers, looking very unsure of what to do. Tristan continued to push. "Tristan McAvoy," he said.

 

At last, he heard her speak. "Vivianne Érablier." Her voice had this soft quality he found quite endearing. It seemed to accentuate her name perfectly in the same the French pronounced their syllables. Yet she harboured no French accent, nor an American or English one that would taint her words.

 

"Are you Canadian?" he asked with much thought. She inclined her head. "How intriguing." Her face was dubious as soon as he uttered the word. "May I ask why you sail aboard this ocean liner with your prescence?"

 

Vivianne swallowed before answering. "I was visiting my grandparents in London for a month and now we are returning home.

 

Tristan stared at this girl thoughtfully. He found her intriguing, from her lack of speech to her mannerisms. Thinking this, he realized he had never been more interested by someone to the degree Vivianne had interested him for as long as he could remember. Not even Anberlin made him feel this way. Tristan got to his feet, handed the girl back her puppy and smoothed his shirt and coat down. "I enjoy talking leisurely walks in my spare time. It would be quite an enjoyable walk tomorrow morning if I had met a second class passenger walking her dog on the boat deck."

 

Vivianne gawked at him before stuttering out a reply that seemed to be against her own will. "I-I beg your pardon?"

 

With a parting wink, Tristan made his way back to his room unable to wipe away the smile that formed on his face. He knew with certainty that his voyage aboard the Titanic was of now, an interesting one.

 

The sound of the anchor rising and the crew members getting back to work rung throughout the ship as they prepared to leave the coast of Cherbourg, France. The Titanic was onto her final stop; Queenstown, Ireland before preparing to make her real voyage across the North Atlantic.
