Posted

Things I've notice are common motif's in Anime/Manga/Video Games

Trio's

Gender Neutral Characters

People running during the opening scene

Hair that defies gravity

Giant robots

Characters with amnesia

Sappy friendship speeches

Can anyone think of some others?

Yup, you got the others I could think of.

That one guy who you know is gay but nobody ever says so?

Gaining a super power from nowhere right at the final battle, so you can defeat the arch villian...for ever single season! And especially true for the movies.

Villains that spend almost the entire series letting their lackeys do their work for them even though they could easily defeat the protagonists at the start of the series.

An agnsty character?

About all I can think of right now, if I can think of more I'll post them.

Character sacrificing themselves in a reaallllyyyy depressing scene... to come back 5 minutes later

Big eyes, ditzy women, scrawny, yet toned, guys tend to be tougher than 10 feet tall buff guys, boners=bloody noses, long monologues just when the fight is getting good, and if the battle field isn't being torn apart, the fight isn't at all important.

Tentacle monsters sexually violate innocent yet scantily dressed schoolgirls.

Of course, what Fred said.

You have to see every major character in the series in the show's opening, even in alternate openings.

There'll be some kind of beach/pool/sauna/bath scene at some point.

In games, you will be in the sewers at some point. Enjoy it.

Brief, censored, useless nudity.

The double/triple/quadruple agent.

There will be some kind of stalker at some point, even if just for three minutes.

There are so many...

No defined sexual orientation

Harem (one boy have lots of girls falling in love with him)

Four girls being cuties.

Villain monologues.

God...

They could kill the main character in a flash, but no... they decide to monologue about how better they are than everybody or that they'll rule the world.

All of the weird grunts and groans and sighs that anime characters make. They're just weird.

The I just got stabbed or punched in the gut so i'll cough up a ton of blood and still be miraculously okay.

bishounen and bishoujo. Lots and lots of it.

Showing the characters feet more times than their mouths when their talking and everything else in the room too for that matter.

The cute and weird sidekick, whether it's human, animal or other, every anime has one at some point.

I think that's because they're onomatopoeias are different than ours.

some examples

squeak(mouse)=chu

aaaaaa (screaming)= kyaaaaa

Tick tock= katchin katchin

Yes, I know that, but what I meant was the Ugh, ah ah, ooh, nnng ngh, eh, uh, huh huh, ememer etc etc. Not onomatopoeias, I mean actual grunts and groans and sounds that don't even have names. it sounds like you're watching a firetrucking porno, when all they're doing is running or fighting or something.
