Just ahead of Nintendo's E3 press conference tomorrow, Nikkei is reporting on a couple of announcements regarding 3DS and Wii U.

For 3DS, the paper says that Nintendo will announce a large screen version of the system. The new version will have a 4.3 inch screen, or 1.5 times the current size. A release in North America, Japan and Europe could happen as early as Summer.

Regarding the Wii U, Nikkei says that it is expected the price will be around 30,000 yen. It's unclear if the paper received any insider information about this price, or if it's just stating an obvious target.

As a comparison, PlayStation 3's 160GB model has an MSRP of ¥24,980. Wii's MSRP is ¥20,000.

Nintendo has previously said that it would not share pricing information about Wii U at E3.

The paper also reports that Wii U will see distribution of non-game content, including a car navigator, books, and a karaoke service with around 10,000 songs.

Wow, it's kind of weird seeing DC post news about Nintendo. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I mean, this is great news. but it's gonna feel weird seeing this peice of news on the Home Page. Especdially since this is a site that usually posts things about KH stuff. But anyway, onto the topic. I larger 3DS scrren? 3DSXL anyone? I thought that Nintendo stated that they weren't making any newer versions of the 3DS.

So basically a 3DSXL...? Great. Just another useless console! Don't know why they don't just bring it out with a screen that size in the first place...

What? A larger 3DS? Why? Where is the sense in that? The current one is perfect size. Anything more is just stupid. I really am honestly starting to hate Nintendo. There's hardly anything good out for the 3DS in the first place, but instead of working on making this one better or developing better games they go and waste time with a bigger version of what they already have?

Yaaaa I thought they might pull somthing like this! Why cant they just make an adapter so that you can play games on a screen thats the size of your MOM!

Some people actually prefer bigger screens like me lol I kinda wish the 3DS were a Vita size one =/ Maybe I am just missing KH in home console (in which case it has bigger screens).

Exactly what I was thinking> What's the point of making the same console except with a bigger screen. Total waste of time if you ask me. They should just go ahaead and show more footage of 3DS games like Luigi's Mansion 2 and paper Mario 3DS and give them release dates. And show more hardware and software for the Wii U.

Why does everyone hate on Nintendo. I'm getting this Day 1, I felt sad going down from my DSi XL to the 3DS.

I've never understood the appeal of the DSI XL, and I think a 3DS XL would be stupid. I think that the XL is just too big, it's gigantic, and how can you call it "portable" when it's way too large to fit in anyone's pocket?

 

30 000 yen for the Wii U sounds about right. That will probably turn out to be true, and they'll release it in NA for $300, like how the 3DS cost 25 000 yen and $250 dollars at launch.

If the new model's getting a size revamp I hope they have a second circle pad built in for it.

Because we worked hard to get the money to pay for the first and now Nintendo wants to replace it so soon.
