the most famous quote from this franchise--->"You shall not pass!!"

This is one of the most cool movie series I've ever seen. My mother likes it so much that she saw all three movies 10 times. I can't wait for The Hobbit. I already read the book. Does anyone has information about the release of the movie?

i love this trilogy, epic movies with a huge world and history

I don't like the movies but I would like to share the fact that the series is based on world war I and the you shall not pass quote was said by a Frenchman I believe when the Germans were trying to invade Paris and the citizens ran them out

Although certain pieces of imagery were borrowed from World War 1 (such as the Dead Marshes and seeing faces in the water), Tolkien often asserted that the books were not a direct allegory of either World War I or II. If I might paraphrase, he said that if this were the case, than Mordor would have been occupied, not destroyed, and everyone would have tried to build their own Rings.

Love the book, loved the movies. Favorite characters include Gandalf, Theoden, and Boromir.

Love the movies, but really haven't been able to read the books. I read the Fellowship of the Ring, which took me forever; but I couldn't make it through the Two Towers. Despite this, I was able to read The Hobbit perfectly fine. Can't wait for The Hobbit movie to come out, should be good!

"End? No the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path. One that we all must take. The grey rain curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass. And then you see it... white shores. And beyond; a far green country under a swift sunrise."

I love the Lord of the Rings. Some of my favorite movies ever made and one of the best stories ever told. It established a footing for the fantasy genre that still holds firm to this day...
