How would you feel about a game console that blocked you from playing used games?

It doesn't seem nice, but I dunno if it'd affect me at the point of preventing me from buying the system...

lol no, that is just plain greedy =/ We consumers have the right to buy used items!!

This.

That's insane! Why would anyone buy something like that!?

If it weren't for used games I would never have gotten into some of the series I've loved and my library of games wouldn't be as big. I don't buy used games all the time but I have my fair share of them. It's never been such a problem in the past so why is it a big deal now for developers to be whining about it? For it to become a used game in the first place someone had to have bought it, they ended up getting their money. My best example could be I bought Borderlands as a used game and I love the game so much that I have already pre-ordered Borderlands 2. If I hadn't have got the first game used they wouldn't be getting my money for the second one. If anything I could see the big problem being that people would be more cautious buying new games because they'd know they cannot return it or anything, they would be stuck with a bad (or whatever) game that they've just ended up paying full price for.

What happens, happens. You should purchase new games anyway to keep your console in better condition. If you can't find the game new in your stores then look online.

That's silly, not everyone can afford new games especially at the high price they are sold for. Plus, many people might pick up a game that they think looks cool months or even years after it was released so they can only get a used copy of the game (I know I have). How do used games affect your console? I have purchased numerous used games in the past and none of my consoles have ever been damaged in the slightest.

I know I buy new games all the time, but what if I wanted to bring a game to play at a friend's house? Or I got a new system? I guess the new system thing might have some username that the games are attached to, but still. What if I gave old games to friends? That's my choice isn't it?

EDIT: Also, if they're going to make us buy new games only, they shouldn't make them so expensive. xD

@Rob just thought i would tell you i think your title is hilarious

I wouldn't buy it. It's stupid not to be able to play used games. That will probably go for rented games to.

That's rich coming from you! Aren't you the one bragging about how affluent Astralia is and that you can afford 100 dollar games? Btw I dont know which part of your ass you pull your 'facts' from but buying new games doesn't maintain your console's condition, like if it's on the way out, it's on the way out

That would be fair for us, gamers. Plus, many gamers probably don't have the money to buy a new game or console.

It would not be fair to people who cant afford to buy new games and have to wait and find it used somewhere.

This is crazy! No good can come this! It sounds like an abomination beyond hope of salvation!

I prefer my games new, but people should be able to purchase them used. I got in late to the Metroid Prime (prior to trilogy release) and Kingdom Heart series. If I couldn't play used games on Gamecube or PS2, I would not have as in to those series as I am in now.

Used disc games are a bit risky, though. If the disc is scratched, it could be ruined. My copy of KH2 had a problem after the second struggle match. Thankfully, Gamestop's policy let me trade it in for a different copy that worked.

most of my games are used.....i get them from the swapmeet.....so id be pissed

Kill it with fire.
