We Take Our Generation for Granted

Posted

If you stop, look, and think. All the things we say our society lack, these characteristics have never been stronger.

We complain about intolerance, yet ignore all the previous rulers, who would kill anything they felt was different.

We complain about the United States trying to democratically introduce censorship, yet ignore the kings who would kill anybody who spoke against them

We say we are too violent, yet every society before us has been a hundredfold so.

It strikes me, we view such a whitewashed history, one can easily forget just how terrible it could be and was. It's because of this PG13 history we learn, that we think our society is the worst. It's really not. We're smart, cleaner, less prone to wanton destruction. He respect people's differences now more than ever. A person who complains about be treated unfairly for being gay could easily have just been killed, not even a handful of years ago.

Our progress is astounding and our world is amazing. We may be marching towards our end, but we've never been so well equipped to face it. And things will get better. We'll continue to reach new highs.

But it seems this ideology is being kept from us. So many people want us to wallow in our terribleness. Atone for sins that grow fainter every day. People seem to WANT to feel sorry for themselves, to act like humanity is on a never ending downward spiral, some sort of inescapable doom.

But we're really not. We're great, and we'll keep achieving greatness. And that shows how amazing this world, and all of its inhabitants are.

we"re not so great, many of us are fools. The world may have progressed but believe it or not, it is still full of violence and it actually has gotten worse over time

I agree our generation is stuck up, well at least half of us are but, i think its mainly for show

P.S. I do talk about God in a positive way, but being Catholic, not many people talk to me serioulsly about what we actually believe in, and all i have to do is zone them out :D

Ok im really confused about this whole thread

We're always fools. Understanding that is wisdom. But things haven't gotten worse. Yes, we are violent by nature, but it's nothing compared to the bloodlust we used to have. Things are not getting worse.

The one you're in. I'm talking on a grander scale, enough to include the people on this site, and also everybody alive and able to discuss the world at large.

Better than being ruled by an orange chunk of metal, or a grey chunk of metal, or a gold chunk of metal, or by a king.

We've found value in things for years. We've just streamlined it.
