I watched that about 2 hours ago. It was a very close race, which made it exciting to watch.

US girls win gymnastics.

Well done Lleyton Hewitt on a great win!

It's not really such a big deal of a news/brag since my country haven't won any medal yet, but one of the athletes in my country is the only pregnant woman to participate in the Olympics this year with her currently being 8-months pregnant.

Why someone would even want to participate at 8 months pregnant is beyond me. Good for her though.

I think I definitely prefer the Winter Olympics because I love all those sports so fun to watch. I remember in 2010 when they were on and there was school and I would stay up all night watching them since I couldn't all day. If I have any Winter Olympic favorite it's Ice Skating :3 For Summer though I'd have to say Fencing.

I said the same thing.

Badminton Men's Singles

Lee Chong Wei vs Ville Lang

21-8, 14-21, 21-11.

Was afraid that Lee Chong Wei would have trouble since he just recovered from his ankle injury. It's still the beginning.

Yeah, I think I like winter better too. The 2010 olympics were really amazing for me, and my country is way better at winter too lol

I am so late to this thread, but better late then never.

So far, the only things I have been able to catch are Women's Volleyball, Men's Beach Volleyball, and that swimming event today (400 meter something?). Which is a shame, since the ones I really want to see are Fencing, Archery, and Table Tennis. The Women's Volleyball match I saw today was pretty good, though I'm not really a fan of volleyball (only really watched it because there was nothing else on, tbh).

Also, despite living in the US, I always seem to end up rooting for another country...

The clock never started! So Heidemann had more than one second to land the winning touch. At the very least, whether she landed it in time was highly in doubt. The match should have continued into another round, but instead Shin was declared the loser. So South Korea's coach went to the judges. Despite the clock issue, they ruled that the touch was good and that Heidemann was the victor. South Korea's coach went off to file a formal appeal. And Shin A Lam, now in tears, refused to live the piste (the platform that they fence on). In fencing, leaving the piste means that you have officially accepted the judges' ruling. And seeing as the clock didn't start, and she should still have a shot at gold, she sat down. It's the filibuster of fencing. After 45 minutes, a judge came out with the ruling that the Korean appeal had been lost and that Shin had to vacate the piste. She didn't. Shin stood up defiant, resulting in one of the more striking images of these Olympics. Security came out and took Shin away. The crowd gave her a standing ovation. Shin went on to lose her bronze medal match.

Bless this girl, she's one of my heroes now. I applaud her for standing up for herself. She deserves that gold medal more than anyone.

They almost never show shooting.

but it's the sport the USA has the most medals in

xD

Or field hockey

which is just an amazing sport in itself

I watched gymnastics last night and they were really good

but they cried

a lot

I prefer Summer.

I'm that somewhat rare person that actually just loves both Summer and Winter Olympics. I have always enjoyed watching both ever since I was a little kid.

Also guys I dunno about you guys, but diving really was one of my favorites yesterday. I mean just look at the perfect moments the photographers got like this one:

London 2012 Olympics: Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei and China superstar Lin Dan set for riveting singles' showdown

It will be a repeat of the 2008 Olympic men’s singles final. The Malaysian Chong Wei, the current world No 1, against Dan, the Chinese pin-up with 16 million social media followers.

Both are, by a distance, the best players on the planet. For the millions watching, it sets up another episode of one of the sport’s great rivalries. The 1pm start time will hit its peak in Asia. It will be some final.

Top-seeded Lee downed Chen Long, the former world champion, 21-13, 21-14. Meanwhile, Dan ousted South Korea's Lee Hyun-Il 21-12, 21-10. Both reached the final by punching the air in delight. Chong Wei then went one better, sinking to his knees and kissing the floor.

In the semi-final, the nimble Chong Wei certainly didn’t look like a player ravished by injury in the build-up to the Games. But he now has a great chance to atone for his disappointing defeat to Dan in Beijing four years’ ago.

"I was not the favourite to win this match," Lee said after his win over Long. "This is not Lee Chong Wei at his best. But I was determined to prove a lot of people wrong.

"I have kept my promise to Malaysia which was to reach the final.”

Chong Wei now has to lock out the memories of the last time these two met in a major final at Wembley. It came in last year’s thrilling World Championship final when the Malaysian held two match points before the Chinese claimed his fourth world title. Chong Wei called it a “stunning” defeat.

"I'm really happy to get my old opponent again," admitted Dan. "The fact that we can get to play each other again four years on just proves that we have not been kicked out by time.

"I hope we can both get to our potential in the final, and that we can fulfil our dreams. No matter what the result I want to support Lee Chong Wei.”

According to Baskin Robbins in my country. If Lee Chong Wei wins and brings home the gold medal, we will get free ice cream for 2 hours in all 61 outlets nationwide. =D

Phelps won gold in his last race. It was a great run. Out of his 22 medals, 17 were gold. *claps*

Lee Chong Wei lose once again to Lin Dan, but at least he brings back a medal for us. Well played just when he was just recovered from his injuries.
