Tails Reviews: The Dark Knight Rises

Posted

So, as you all know The Dark Knight Rises recently came out in Theatres. So, here's my review for the movie. Also, this could have some major spoilers for those who haven't seen this movie yet.

Story:

Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, Gotham City is in a state of peace. Under powers granted by the Dent Act, Commissioner Gordon has nearly eradicated violent and organized crime. However, he feels guilty about the cover-up of Harvey Dent's crimes. At a function celebrating Dent, he plans to admit to the conspiracy but decides that the city is not ready to hear the truth. While following the lead in the abduction of a congressman from the function, Gordon's speech falls into the hands of terrorist leader, Bane. Gordon is shot in the process, and he promotes patrol officer, John Blake to detective. As Batman has disappeared from Gotham City, so too has Bruce Wayne. Locking himself up inside Wayne Manor. Wayne Enterprises is crumbling after he invested in a clean energy project designed to harness fusion power, but shut the project down after learning that the core could be modified to become a nuclear weapon.

The story was just as good as The Dark Knight's story was. The villian in it was incredible and (if possible) a much better threat than Joker, himself. Everything about the story was just great. Wayne losing everything he once had, Bane breaking Batman both physically and mentally, and the fact that bane actually took over Gotham City (though he did it with the help of Talia Al Ghul). The story was mind blowing and fantastic. It definitely beats The Dark Knight by a mile. Looking forward to buying this movie on Blu-ray when it hits stores. it's that incredible

Acting:

The acting, once again, was fantastic. Christian Bale did a great job playing his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. As expected, he played a very good Batman if you ask me. I can tell he put in some emotion in his acting. As for Tom Brady, excellent job as Bane. he made Bane look like the most deadliest and most powerful foe that batman has ever faced. i was surprised to see him make bane the first villian in the movie to actually break Batman . he did such a good job with his role. Anne Hathaway did a good job as Catwoman. not my favorite version of Catwoman. But she did a nice job as her. She described Catwoman's personality pretty well. Michael Caine, as always, did a good job playing as Alfred. And same could be said about Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon.

Presentation:

If ther's anything you can praise Warner bros. on it's the plot that they always come up with in the Batman movies. I have to admit, I didn't think it would be possible. But they outdid themselves on beating The Dark Knight's story. I have to admit, I was surprised at that. The Dark Knight Rises has to be one of the greatest movie films of all time. Being on Par (if not, then maybe even surpassing) The Avengers Movie. Warner Bros. did a fantastic job setting up the plot.

Verdict:

After being amazed with the plot, and the characters in the movie. I gladly give this movie a 10/10.

Nice review ^-^

I actually give it a 10/10 also.

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman was mindblowing. I didn't think she pulled it off before the movie, but then I saw her and she was so amazing.

I loved it. I adore how Nolan's films have made Bruce Wayne the main character, rather than just focusing on the costume and having it fight the villain of the week. "Dark Knight Rises" was especially bold in that is was first and foremost a character based film, looking at psychology and emotions of the people involved, rather than just going the usual superhero-movie style of throwing in explosions and action and pretending that it's substance. Most of all, the arc of all three movies put together makes the package all the more satisfying, as you can see these characters actually develop and grow, rather than just hit the reset button at the begining of every film.

I didn't care for it, the movie seemed to use a lot from The Dark Knight, like Bane hiding in between his guards in the beginning and giving the people of gotham over the fate of their fellow citizens, having another main villain showing up within the last half hour just to die in an accident. Plus the action was too forward for Batman, his whole appeal is that he's a man behind a mask who comes out at NIGHT and takes down his enemies from the shadows .. not broad daylight. And for them to have him start out a cripple and get past his limitations to become batman again, to once again cripple him in battle to see him recover was an unnecessary dose of deja vu. I'm done ranting, this is only my opinion but 'the movie was a disappointment to me.'

me and my sister are going as batman and catwoman for halloween :3

It's not a perfect movie but what impressed me the most is Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. She did perfectly and the expression in her face is spot on. Tom Hardy make a good realistic Bane with menacing eyes.

inserting spoilers

Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate is alright but as Talia feels like a very sudden change for her, but I like the twist and really unexpected. Obviously diehard batman fans will know that Ra's al ghul doesn't have a son and have a daughter instead so there were several hints throughout the movie. Typical Christopher Nolan.

Some parts feels rushed and caught up quickly. I can feel the jump-cut between scenes feels abit off sometimes but hopefully the blu-ray/dvd version has some extended cut or something.

Other than that. It is another trilogy done right. It can open up to various questions and possible extended story line like what the TV Show Smallville did to continue the story to comics.
