Yes!

Saw this the other day.

Bloody awesome.

I'll bet money that Final Fantasy XIII-3 comes out before Versus XIII ;P

What made XIII-02 so awful? Was it the superior leveling system? The increased customization? The ability to explore? Actually having optional stuff? The great soundtrack? The unexpected ending?

What?

HMMMM.... I DARESAY I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY COULD POSSIBLY BE ANNOUNCING.

"Is still hoping XV comes eventually."

I actually don't know if I'm looking forward to this or not. One side is saying 'Yes I am looking forward to this and I can't wait to play as everyone else!'. The other is wondering 'Wonder if we are gonna have to buy all the DLC again to understand the everything'

Good to see I'm not the ONLY one that's excited for this

how about the fact that the characters were whiney as heck? square should be focused on versus tsince versus actually looks good. the battle system still was the same in order to get anything done you had to stagger an enemy and even then it didnt last long at all. they're milking the heck out of 13 and i am not going to buy another sequel to one of the mediocre final fantasy games. the last good one was 10 and 12 was ok but after that they sucked

All the games after XII.... so... XIII

Not a very grand statement

Also, says Square Enix is milking XIII

Says they should focus on Versus XIII

And whiny is generally shorthand for 'couldn't think of anything' care to give some actual examples?

As for the stagger thing... that's why there are classes built around inflicting stagger. It's called strategy

Well you didn't with XIII-2 so I don't see why this would be any different.

the whole game sarah just talks about how she misses lightning or snow even though other more important things are going on and by the way there was 14. and i say focus on versus because it holds more potential than a sequel to a sequel. versus is the game that could potentially get us a remake of 7. in case you havent heard that 7 will only be remade if they make a better one. versus has more potential than xiii-3.

The Lightning saga will finish before the Xehanort Saga?

You know WHY they said they wouldn't remake FF7 until it's beaten? Because it's impossible. Final Fantasy VII is a defining RPG that pretty much invented the modern genre.

I mean, a LOT of games have been BETTER than VII, but it's important for other reasons.

Serah whining about her husband who has been missing for several years on her behest, and wanting to see her sister who everybody insists is dead.

Yeah, real character flaw here. Being sad about the people she loves being ambiguously dead.

I mean, this isn't exactly a new thing. Barret whines about Marlene every other second.

Cloud whines about Aerith (And pretty much everything else in later installments :/)

There's TONNES of whining in X

:/

The Lightning saga will finish before the Xehanort Saga?

OF COURSE

OF COURSE

Proof?

Proof?

I have my sources

I bought the story DLCs and I would've preferred playing them in game as they should've been. That Lightning DLC ending should've been in-game at least. I was excited for XIII-2 but the DLCs killed it for me. I would much rather prefer a fully completed game that took a long time rather than 3/4 of a game that requires me to buy DLC to get the last juicy bits.

The crappy characters, lack of main cast characters from XIII thereof, nonsensical plot that has virtually nothing to do with the first game, bad storytelling, the fact that it's an obvious DLC cash cow, false-advertisement, pointless "Fetch me x" and "Kill X amount of x" """sidequests""", main story can be completed in under 25 hours, and the fact that the game's ending was obviously designed with DLC abusing powers in mind.

XIII was a very polished and complete game. XIII-2 was not :)

i was hoping for a FF:XIII-3 to come out

I can respect you feeling the characters are worse. Personally, I liked Noel, he reminded me of Sora, and Serah was an interesting female protagonist. Not overly bubbly, but not ridiculously cold (See Vanille and Lightning respectively) but that's just me.

Moving on though, the DLC cash cow thing... nothing about the DLC is vital to the plot. I was actually disappointing by that. I wanted more clarity, instead I got a Snow themed boss rush, Card games in TIME. And that weird Lightning thing that explained nothing. It's not a DLC cash cow, it's Square Enix experimenting with the possibility of DLC. And it's not like they just cut content and released it as DLC later. They wouldn't have waited so long to release it all if that were the case, in order to maximize sales.

Not really sure about the false advertisement thing

Now, those fetchquests ARE bland, but I'd take deliver X item to Y, over 'walk for ten minutes to the other side of the map, kill a monster party, repeat'

The game's ending never led to any DLC like expected. It's was clearly setup for a sequel, or an incredibly ballsy ending.

XIII was polished because there was nothing to it. You run through corridors, fight some enemies (Using autobattle no doubt) run through a corridor, find a cutscene, and repeat that until suddenly you're in an overly huge area with pretty much nothing in it. Then the weirdly done ending happens.

I will admit, XIII-2 doesn't match the tone and story of XIII one bit.

But you know it does match? A Final Fantasy game :)

...in my opinion

Hmm. I'm not sure how I feel about XII-3. I didn't care for the stories of XIII and XIII-2 as much as that of X (the first FF game I ever played) nor did I sympathize as much with the characters, but the same could be said for XII. I don't know if it' because I'm older now and don't play video games as much anymore, if I'm looking at X through "nostalgia-colored glasses" (although I picked X again recently and still enjoy it as much as ever) or if Square really has traded storytelling for graphics. (Although the pre-rendered cut-scenes in X are still amazing, especially for a last-gen title. Even better than XII, I can actually see the hair on Tidus's legs.) At any rate I'm going to wait until the reviews are in before I consider buying it.
