A CHANCE FOR MOTHER 3 IN AMERICA?

Posted

Interview which was posted today:

ST: I would be remiss in not telling you that some of my writers would like to play another Advance Wars and they would someday like to play Mother 3 in America… [Note: Iwata writes something down] … Whenever I ask Reggie about Mother 3, he says, ‘ask Mr. Iwata.'"

Iwata: [in English]: "Just yesterday, before I left from Japan, I met with Mr. Itoi, who is the creator of the Earthbound series. [laughs]"

ST: "Oh, I know. Are we ever going to get it?"

Iwata: "And, yeah, accidentally we were discussing that there are huge fans from Western countries for the Mother series [laughs].

ST: "So, someday? Someday?" [i stand up to shake his hand]

Iwata: "[laughs] Thank you. Great to see you!"'

AND I LOVE MOTHER 3!

Isn't it a really old game? If they were going to localize it, they should have done it AGES ago.

WHO CARES!

This made me imagine a 3DS remake......

I would love to see Earthbound 64 xD

Ehh, I have a feeling that if I were to play this game, after hearing so many good things about it, it would only disappoint me, like Ocarina of Time.

But whatever, if it really gets localized, then I'll check it out. Maybe I'll find a pleasant surprise. I do love RPGs.

I agree. The very fact that people still had hopes it would get localized always seemed... crazy (to put it lightly). Of course, the very fact that Iwata comments on this, is mind blowing to me. But hey, if they remake it and localize it, then I guess there isn't much to complain about. It would probably make a decent profit as well.

i don't think so. I felt very much the same, but I was pleasantly surprised by Mother 3. It really defies expectation, and the fan translation is top notch. It's a fantastically emotional story.... seriously, look it up.

Hmm, well I suppose I could give it a try. But I think I'll wait and see if anything comes from this localization thing before I go finding... other ways to play the game.
