Could YMX be Xehanort's downfall? *SPOILERS*

Posted

Ever noticed how similar Young Master Xehanort is to Riku? Take the secret ending for example ("This world is just too small.") I was thinking this to myself the other day. We don't know much about YMX other than, just like Riku, he was approached by "Mr. Robe Guy" to perform a dark deed to leave the small island home, that, maybe, he would never have thought of doing beforehand. Wouldn't it be interesting if Riku tries to talk YMX out of doing what he's doing since he can make his own choices and doesn't have to listen to an evil future version of himself? I mean, YMX's own possible teenage uncertainty of what path he should take could turn the tides in khIII?

This is an interesting thought, and I wouldn't mind seeing it implemented. In all honesty, it probably won't happen, but apparently they did direct Benjamin Diskin to play YMX the way you mentioned.

He said, in an interview with KHInsider I believe, that they told him to act unsure of himself. Like maybe he was debating about doing what he was instructed to, and maybe he didn't like what he would become. Of course, that probably means it won't happen. I doubt the voice acting directors would say something that if it was a future plot point. Especially if one of the VAs could unknowingly blab about it. Anyway...

I could kind of see Xehanort being his own downfall, because now that there are thirteen of him, since bald Xehanort is kind of the leader, his other selves could get jealous and end up fighting over the supreme overlord position.

Or maybe later on the uncertainty of one of the Xehanorts could upset the balance, like you said with YMX.

Even with time being unrewriteable, an earlier version of Xehanort could change his mind at the end, but since they don't remember any of the wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff happening once they get sent back to their original times, he could still end up becoming his future evil selves without remembering ruining his own plans...?

And now I'm confusing myself. Hooray for time travel.

According to DDD, time can'rt be changed

This is true. But what about his actions in the future as one of the 13? Kind of ironic if he was sent to the future as a teen and ended up ending his future self's dark deeds and was sent back to his normal time not remembering any of that.

Whoops sorry Zola, I guess I said pretty much what you said before me in my last post. I was trying to type it on my 3DS and I guess you posted it as I was typing haha

Well, Ben Diskin was told to portray YMX so that he doesn't seem evil in particular so who knows?

It would be nice if YX would fight on Sora's side in the end. He would know he cannot change what's to come but he can stop it "now".

First his future self destorys his "normal" life and then his past self destorys the plan of the ultimate future/present self... whoa!

Yeah but also according to DDD YX's action in the game are what led him to seek the outside world and become the man we now love to hate.

Uh... huh?

And?

And?

His involvement in the present ensured he would always follow through with MX's path. So he already broke the rule by being corrupted by his future self.

His future self wouldn't exist without that. Any time travel that occurs was meant to happen, but if something has happened, it can't be changed

....It would be fun to have YMX in your theatrhytm party. And Ienzo.

And Ienzo.

Sadly he is not a "real" fighter. I guess, until we find Ansem, he will be the Mr. Exposition Guy along with Yen Sid.
