But this isnt the nintendo thread its the RWBY thread so im not even going to engage in a debate about nintendo here.

Reasons it isn't necessary here.

*New conversation.

After listening to "im the one" during the part they were talking about Mercs past I think he was abused in more ways then one. In the directors commentary they said Mercurys backstory was very dark and they would get into it in a later volume. Im getting the feeling his childhood might have been similar to Guts from Berserk. Especially with the relationship with his father.

so when the lyrics say "defiled by a father" you think it could have been like that?

I hope its not that extreme but its not outside the realm of possibility

I want Mercurys semblance to be wings on his feet for obvious reasons

That would be badass.

I feel like Volume 4 might be good for the heroes, but by the time this second arc ends, I think our heroes will fail epically. I'll tell you why later. Too tired right now lol ^^

So I know it's been months but, with the the release of the RWBY soundtrack, I think it's a good time to give my explanation. Basically, the music in RWBY has been foreshadowing the series story (Which has actually been confirmed by Jeff Williams). Now a few songs seem to foreshadow events that, as of right now, have not taken happened.

1) The writers have talked about the importance of the crumbling moon in RWBY. In many songs, the disappearance of the crumbling moon is associated with the return of darkness. The moon has not disappeared in RWBY, this could mean that real darkness has not returned yet.

Examples:

"If the stars all fall and the moon, when there's no more light and the moon should crumble, it will be alright" - Gold (Volume 1 OST)

"When we lose our faith, and forsake our friends. When the moon is gone, and we reach our end." - I May Fall (Volume 1 OST)

"Feel it everywhere and you see it growing, enemies arise and the hate is flowing, shattering the moon and bloodying the sky." - Die (Volume 2 OST)

"Stars will drop out of the sky, the moon will sadly watch the roses die" - Sacrifice (Volume 2 OST)

One thing makes me believe that all of this could've been referring to the good guys' defeat of Volume 3...this lyric in "When It Falls"

"Soon the moon is bathed in black, the light of hope is taken"

When It Falls is basically a summary of the Fall of Beacon, it talks about the heroes' defeat and even has a part of Cinder's speech in it so it would only be logical that the lyric about the moon actually referred to the return of darkness in Volume 3...maybe darkness has risen after all. But there's still one thing that makes me believe that even if our heroes don't fail, they will turn their backs on each other...or more precisely, they will turn their backs on Ozpin.

2)Some lyrics refer to heroes fighting a fight that isn't theirs and turning their back on the one who sent them to fight and a lot of lyrics refer to someone lying to people... Maybe the Huntsmen are actually just pawns used by Ozpin to fight the Salem's evil forces. Maybe Ozpin's the liar.

Examples:

"Are we heroes keeping peace? Or are we weapons? Pointed at the enemy so someone else can claim a victory?" - Time to say Goodbye (Volume 2 OST)

Now this next song ,"Sacrifice", is pretty much about the lies and the heroes fighting for someone. But it also hints at the heroes turning their backs on "the Liar".

-"Take the lives of those you need, sow the death then reap the seed" This lyric seems to be tied to a part of Salem's song "Divide" keep that in mind.

-"You can't have my life, I'm not your sacrifice. You can try, but I'm free and you won't conquer me." The way I see it, this line is basically one of our heroes (I believe it to be Ruby) telling the Liar that she's done fighting their fights. Why Ruby, well the song first refers to the moon watching the roses dies. This could be referring to the  death of Ruby's mother (see Red like Roses part II) or maybe Ruby watching Pyrrha die. Either way, it refers to Ruby seeing someone sacrificed by Ozpin for his  needs hence the line "Take the lives of those you need". So Ruby probably learns something about Ozpin or her mother's death and decides she won't suffer the  same fate. She won't be Ozpin's sacrifice.

-"I won't crawl, most of all, I won't fall for you." (Same explanation as the previous line)

-"And lies, truth will rise, revealed by mirrored eyes." Mirrored eyes could be referring to Ruby's silver eyes hinting that she will discover and reveal the truth about the Liar BUT, it could also be referring to Weiss (Mirror Mirror)...now that I think about it, this whole song could be referring to Weiss taking fate into her own hands instead of being what her father wants her to be. In that case, the line "Take the lives of those you need" would probably refer to Faunus labor.

Finally, let's analyze "Divide". This song is clearly a message from Salem to Ozpin. So we can assume that almost everything it says is pointing to Ozpin. (Which is why I think Ozpin is lying to our heroes and using them)

-"It was you who ended their lives, made them dig their own graves with your dark, sick, cruel design convinced them their world could be saved."So basically, Salem is saying Ozpin led some heroes to their death...Obviously Pyrrha (unintentionally) and MAYBE Summer Rose.

-"Have you no shame? Signing them up for your war." Salem is shaming Ozpin for using humanity as pawns in their fight. It is not humanity's war, it's theirs. And they might not be human. Salem obviously isn't human, she hates humanity and wants to destroy it and if Ozpin is like her...than he's not human either.

-"Sacrifice them for your needs" Refers to the song sacrifice, like I said earlier. This is why I don't believe sacrifice to be about Weiss, but about Ozpin sacrificing heroes for his war.

-"These children you mislead, you'll watch them all bleed" Speaks for itself.

-"Form your armies dream your dreams, make your plans and plot your schemes. Send your fighters one and all, then in battle watch them fall." Once again a reference to Ozpin sacrificing our heroes hence the song Sacrifice. Also in the song Sacrifice, a line says "What if all the plans you made were not worth the price they paid" They being the heroes, and the plans could be referring to Ozpin's plans which Salem refers to in Divide.

3) One last thing, I keep talking about Summer Rose's mysterious death and how it might be linked to Ozpin. There's one line in Red Like Roses part II that leads me to believe that. "I made a sacrifice, but forced a bigger sacrifice on you". Red like Roses is a dialogue between Summer and Ruby and this line is said by Summer. It's about her death which she refers to as a sacrifice...kinda reminds me of the song Sacrifice which is tied to the song Divide...which is about Ozpin...Conclusion: Summer Rose might've been sent to her death (indirectly...or directly) by Ozpin (just like Pyrrha). This would explain a lot...like the tension between Taiyang and Qrow (working with the one who sent the Taiyang's love to her death) and all of the above.

That's about it...basically I think the heroes COULD fail at some point during the next arc because if they turn on each other then they'll be divided and you just have to listen to "Divide" to understand what this will lead to. BUT, if "Divide" is hinting to what has already taken place in Volume 3, then I believe our heroes will stick together but they will turn their back on Ozpin or whoever is the liar, the betrayer, referred to in many RWBY songs.

I agree that some history went down with Ozpin and Salem. They look to be around the same age so it could maybe br they met at any point in their life. Maybe they once worked towards the same goal and a clash of ideologys and separated. That could be what Ozpin meant when he said he maid alot of mistakes to Ruby

This could be it! I had not finished my explanation by the way...I posted by accident, just finished editing my post. Feel free to read it...or not. It's kinda long.

Oh wow, this is a really eye opening post!  So all the songs have something to say about the story!  But wow, if it's this way that things are seeming to be, then Ozpin is one messed up motherf*cker, using children for his war, sacrificing them for his own benefit!  I mean, god God, that' some messed up stuff there!  I can't wait to see what'll develop in Volume 4! X_X

RWBY Chibi is officially a drug. Ruby got 10x more adorkable.

Also...

Ruby: "THIS IS FILTH!"

I lost it. lol

RWBY Chibi was...alright. I'll have to watch more as they come, but for now, it's just okay.

I could be completely wrong though...And I'm sure that IF Ozpin is sacrificing people it's for the greater good. If my theory is true, then I believe he's just trying to stop Salem and do what's good but isn't going about it the right way.

Hmm, heroes that try to save the day via flawed tactics are definitely intriguing characters!  We can only wait and see if this proves true to Ozpin's character! :3

Mine as well! I also really love Rubys skits like the cookie.

Good God, Rwby Chibi is just too adorable!  I'm eating it up!  Lmao, the standout moments for me are Ruby's attempts at making cookies, her "Now that's a katana" line, and Blake hiding from Zwei!  Lmao, and Jaune flipping out when Blake was about to hand over her phone to Weiss! xD
