Aren't PS3 systems supposed to play PS2 games?

Tried to play KH2, didn't work

Old versions do, not newer PS3s.

I think only the 60gb model can do that.

Is it a newer model? The newer models don't play ps2 games.

I think so o.O

Crap I think it is a newer version, oh well KH: Remixs are coming

Only the fat PS3 can do it but I'm pretty sure that the updates take that ability away.

Only the original thick ones do. The new slim ones sadly don't.

...but dont buy an old one cause I had one and it broke in less than a year... fml

These are the only PlayStation 3 models to be backwards compatible with PlayStation 2 games. They are all discontinued so you would have to purchase a pre-owned one. Although you're better off waiting for the HD remasters.

Oddly, though they do play most ps1 games.

Yeah, for some reason Sony continued to be backwards compatible with PlayStation One games. I don't think there's ever been a PlayStation 2 or 3 model to not support them.

From 2008 PS3 models onwards, they stop producing PS3's with PS2 backward compatibility due to feedback of graphical issues to some games.

Only the older models can.

Shame.

The most you can do is buy digital PS2 games, otherwise it's only older 1st gen Ps3's

See this is the reason why i'm keeping the PS2. I want to play all of my games that have been bought over the last little while.
