I have been wondering for a while now how Kingdom Hearts and Re: Chain of Memories would connect to each other. I'd think separating them into two discs would be logical, but putting them both into the same game would be a little more interesting. What if the two games are both in the main menu, or better yet, what if ReCOM starts right after you finish the story of Kingdom Hearts?

Given the capability of blu-ray discs (based on my A-Level ICT course at college last year, a traditional disc has 4.7GB and a Blu-ray has 50GB) based on the old game space, it's possible, however the new game file will obviously take up more space, given the HD graphics and extra content, but I doubt each game would rise to 50GB each so it's not implausible for the games to all be on one disc.

However, from a marketing perspective, by keeping the 3 games (though I suppose Days will be on the theater mode of one of the games?) on 3 separate (/2 with one including theater mode with Days) customers will FEEL they're getting more for their money and be more inclined to buy.

They should put all to one disc and have menu where you can choose what you want to play. That is easy and cool way to do it

I don't think some people would like it if you could only access Re:com right after beating kh1 so the best option would probably by putting them all on the title screen.

It should all fit on one disc. They will probably only be 720p quality, based on the trailer Square Enix released back at the announcement, so that means smaller file sizes. And as Caity Raindrop mentioned, a blu-ray disc will hold 50 GB. They should all be able to fit onto one disc. Take for example Final Fantasy XIII-2: it is 1080p quality and has averages about 25 hours to beat the game, and averages between 40-50 to complete 100%. It's file size a little less than 14.5 GB. The original Kingdom Hearts has very similar times, maybe a little bit shorter. So you could assume that the KH file in HD (at 720p) would be around 10 GB. If they decided to go for full 1080p, then maybe closer to 15 GB. Re: Chain of Memories is around the same gameplay time to go through both the Sora story and Riku story, so there is another 10-15 GB. Add these together and you have around 20 GB (at 720p) and 30 GB (at 1080p), which leaves 20-30 GB for between 2-3 hours of cutscenes for 358/2 Days (its basically a movie, which I am super excited about). Most blu-ray movies are between 15-25 GB at 1080p (some are more) so that would fit pretty nicely onto the remainder of the disc (even better if it is in 720p as well) leaving room for the menu.

So it should all fit on one disc. But then how will it be arranged? Well, we already know that 358/2 Days will be in the Theater section, watchable at any time. I would assume that both KH and Re:COM will be listed separately on the menu, and you will be able to play them separately. Now, most people (myself included) will probably want to play chronologically and beat KH first then do Re:COM. I think this opens a neat possibility, the games can still be playable whenever so that the super fans of Re:COM can play it first, but for those who don't want to, there could be an option at the final screen of KH that allows the player to move on to Re:COM.  Is this necessary? No of course not, they could always just have you go back to the menu and start Re:COM from there (which is basically the same process just with an extra step), but I think it would be a cool way to further connect the games. They could also force you to play KH first and then Re:COM second, though since the 358/2 Days cutscenes will be accessible from the beginning, I find this highly unlikely.

That's just my take on it. They may do something different entirely, but that would go away from Square Enix's general style.

Take for example Final Fantasy XIII-2: it is 1080p quality

sry, but only the CGI scenes have this quality

the game itself has only (upscaled) 720p

I think this will be the same with HD ReMIX...CGI 1080p (KH I op+ed), game 720p because a lot of the PS3 games have only 720p

Oh I didnt realize this. Since the game has on the box that it can play up to 1080p. I assumed that meant that was the resolution because some games say they only go up to 720p. My mistake. But still, my point still stands that it should all fit on one disc.

I'd prefer both games on one disc, I just hope this won't be a downloadable-only game

I hope it is all on one disc :3

Maybe extra discs can be special features, lol....

I sort of doubt they'll make more than one disc, since it'll add to the price of manufacturing.  My guess is that they'll let you choose each game from the title screen, since it would seem pretty unfair to have to complete each game before moving onto the next.

I think it will be on different disks and why:

1. People feel and know for sure they're getting a good deal and are satisfied

2. It symbolizes the different games.

Though I do feel like all the games will be on the menu screen. If you select the game that isn't in the ps3,it'll tell you to insert the disk and start the game.

That's just what I think though, don't quote me on it.

I don't really know how'd they put the games, or anytthing about quality, but I think they'll put in different discs. KH2FM+ was separated by two different discs, and I don't see why not separate them (not putting them together brings any problems)

And KH games always have separate menus. I personally think they will put in two discs, and one of them (or even both) will have the Days cutscenes.

But who knows?
