I honestly could pick a better title to this but anyway so this is a question I have for mainly those who want to be games developers out there but feel free to put in your general thoughts even if you know as little as I do about the development. So how come it would've been so hard to remake Days for 1.5 ReMix? I mean they have the models, most of the areas and the could even just reuse the engine from KH2 to put in it? I don't mind that it's essentially going to be just a movie but since they are making the cutscenes I just wanna know if anyone knows why? Cause I honesly have been thinking it would have been easy enough for them to put together. Also sorry if this was already a topic I scrolled down and didn't see one like this so I decided to make it.

This.  Unlike KH 1 and Re:CoM, they would have just about nothing to work with for Days.  They certainly aren't just going to improve the graphics of the original game, that would NOT pass off with the KH fan base.  If they decided to include game-play for Days, they would start with only concepts and probably some previous models from KH games before it.  Sure, they wouldn't have absolutely nothing to use for it (That's what I'd imagine at least), but it's like SinHeartlessAngel said, they would basically be creating a whole new game.  Considering how the KH fan base is already impatient about KH3 coming out, I think they don't want it to take ages for the HD Remixes to come out.  As much as I would like there to be a full on KH Days remake in the game, it would just take too much time, so it's probably for the best.

They should of just remade the last level where Roxas is a dual wielding bad ass. That was like the only enjoyable part of the game

Days was handled primarily by a completely different developer on a completely different console. Days would have to be reverse-engineered, ported to the PS3 (if it's even possible) and then graphically retooled or they would have to completely rebuild the game using PS2 assets (which still requires a lot of brand new material since Days didn't copy-paste absolutely everything wholesale), and even then they would have to screw around with unfamiliar code to implement the panel system or completely rebalance the game with 1/2's skill system.

If this was the scale of development staff they reserved for brand new Kingdom Hearts games, it would simply be a tall order. With a team for a minor project like this it's wildly unrealistic to do within 18-24 months, unless of course everyone is capable of making sound systems out of their calculators.

On top of all this,The development staff that made 1 & 2 are currently busy with FFV XIII, and keep in mind that said team is not very likely to be comprised of the same programmers it was 7-8 years ago, so there's only so many people that would they would be able to consult with.

Was about to comment on the title. But then I read the first sentence.

But it's exactly like Sin posted, they would be creating a entirely new game.

I agree with all of this, except the part where the Osaka Team was called minor.

They'd have to edit the controls from a DS to a PS system, ultimately changing the game mechanics which would take more time.

Disregarding a 3D aspect, upgrading Days to higher graphics and releasing it for the 3DS would probably take less time given the similar controls (obviously), but SE save money by remaking it as cutscenes and releasing it alongside 2 essentially easy-to-remake games (going from a PS system to a PS system is much less challenging) that would regenerate interest in the series.  They're saving themselves time AND money by just making it into HD cutscenes.

Though if it was remade I suppose more people would like the game.
