Sora and Riku, the most unusual friendship?

Posted

I don't know if it's just me, but Sora and Riku have the most unusual friendship. After all that's happened in KH1 between them, with all the fighting and drama, you'd think they'd have trust issues and end up hating each other. But instead, Sora and Riku become even closer friends and there is no drama and no hard feelings between them.

What are your thoughts on this?

Maybe, because of Sora's upbeat attitude, Riku has learned his lesson. But it's over with, so let's forget it.

I think it shows maturity between them. To be able to accept a person who betrayed you before, it shows that their bond is too strong to be severed by such trifling events. Also considering the fact that they're basically "brothers",

and brothers fight all the time, nothing unusual about it. :)

Because friendship and the bonds between hearts is the game's main theme.  Riku has been spending the series up until this point with guilt and trying to set things right, Sora isn't the kind to hold a grudge towards people who are genuinely remorseful, and the most atrocious of Riku's actions came from when he was possessed by Ansem.  If Sora hated him for everything he did, it'd be completely out of character and would spit in the face of one of the things that makes the Kingdom Hearts franchise what it is.  And even if Sora did hate him, Riku would just think he deserved it.  He avoided direct interaction with Sora and his buddies until the end of KH2 for a reason.

Recalling your other threads, you seem to have it out for Riku, don't you?

I like Riku, but I just find their friendship to be strange. It's Kairi who I find useless, but that's another topic.

well if i had a crazy adventure trying to save my friend from darkness then in the end he sacrifices himself so i can be safe and hunts down the thing that i need to wake up from a deep coma like sleep(while taking on the form he hates most to do it) would be a pretty cool friend in my books

Lots of people find Kairi useless, and I don't argue with the ones who criticize her lack of involvement.  Sora and Riku's friendship would be unusual in other works, but KH sits on the idealistic side of the Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism.  This is a series where friendship can turn into a literal superpower, so I think it's safe to say that anyone who wants to atone will get forgiven at some point.

Well, who doesn't have a best friend who's tried to kill them while under the influence of a Dark Entity right?

you said it!

Of course. Anything involving Disney has to have at least one unrealistic, cheesy character that represents good morals. Kind of cliche if you ask me. Oh yeah and Sora is gay for Riku too, so that's another reason, also explaining why he hasn't banged Kairi yet. She's just there to mask the gayness. Seriously, take her away and you got a pure sausage-fest on the Destiny Islands. In fact, the whole game is pretty much a sausage-fest. There's like what, four total human girls in the whole series?

Sora would forgive anyone for anything. His brain doesn't understand the ways of a douchebag...

Sora is the Jesus Christ of Kingdom Hearts.

Of course is unusual, but that's what good friends do, trust and forgive each other. If you ever have a friend like those two consider yourself a really lucky person.

It's not their friendship that's unusual, it's Sora, lol. Friendship being as such a strong theme in KH as it is and Sora being the protagonist he essentially embodies what it means to be a good friend. He's caring, forgiving, sacrificial, loyal, affectionate, and goes well over and beyond to idealistic levels. No matter how much Riku acts like a douche bag, causes trouble, or runs away Sora chases after him with little to no complaint only taking into consideration that if he can't find Riku he's failed as a friend or that Riku is in some kind of trouble. Then after all is said and done Sora essentially helps Riku become a better person.

Roxas: I hate you so much...

DiZ: You should share some of that hatred with Sora. He's too good for his own good.

As it is even lampshaded in the series, Sora is a very good person. He has a really strong Heart mainly because he derives his strength from his friends. He was really worried for Riku after KH1, and Ansem's possession of Riku was obvious enough for even Sora to realize it.

Riku made mistakes through KH1, but after being possessed and nearly forced to hurt Sora and Kairi, he realized the error in his ways. He was seriously guilty and ashamed for giving in to the Darkness. Considering what Ansem put Riku through, and Riku's own guilty feelings, Riku certainly paid the price for his actions. Sora wasn't going to hate or be angry at Riku because he knew Riku was sorry. They were basically brothers.

There are more than four girls in the whole KH series. Ariel, Mulan, Larxene, the 7 princesses, Maleficent, Aerith, Yuffie, that girl who always chases Cloud, etc.

Don't worry I won't Anyways on topic, the theme of the game is friendship, so I find that Sora forgiving Riku is normal. Plus, Sora's too nice to not forgive him, and Riku was possessed by Ansem when that all happened.

I just think that Sora is a forgiving person.

It'll all lead to Soriku in teh end.
