So i've had a fan-fic in mind for quite a while and i didn't post it earlier since people were giving their exams back then.

I originally planned to write it in summer because i felt then everyone would have time to read it, but then there's the possibility that if i wait too long someone else could get the idea and well, mine would lose it's originality.

Unfortunately there's also a chance i'll be busy during the summers too with college applications and other stuff hopefully, i'm moving to another city :3
And even more unfortunately my exams are coming up and if i write the story now i'll have to complete it by early February

What do you guys think? Should i start writing it now or wait till June?

Edit: I've already noted down the major points, but there are still a few details left so...

I'd say if you want to write start whenever you can or want. Writing takes a lot of time so if you start now it may take a while to get out.

What Xaon said :D Never a bad time to write x3 and theres always plenty of readers!

you can write whenever you feel so~

We'll always be there to read Owo

You should write whenever you feel you'll be free enough to write... Over the four years I've been writing (not much..I know) I've come to the conclusion that it's always best to write when you are free because then your ideas will not be congested by the thought that you have to study for this... or apply for that. So if that's years from now it'll always be better because you'll have time to add whereas the other authors will be writing down previous ideas that you had, not the new one(s). Also, just because you are not starting the full blown fanfic doesn't mean you can't jot down ideas here and there. :) Hope this helps

Thanks guys

It shouldn't matter when you start writing the story.  If you're honestly worried someone else would get the idea, it might not be that unique.  But, even if someone thinks of the basic idea, yours would still be unique as long as you put your own spin on things.  If it's a matter of not having enough time, plenty of novelists out there work full time and still manage to get it out there.  I've learned that having [X] time on your hands doesn't inherently mean you'll be getting [X] amount of work done, so the concept of "free time" doesn't mean as much as you think when it comes to writing.  A trick for time management, if it'll be an issue, is to set aside a time--like, one or two hours--specifically for writing.  It'll help you get into the proper mindset if you have a time specifically devoted to something, and it'll give you more incentive to get something done.  An hour or two of the day is doable, and even if you might not necessarily be getting an hour or two of work done, you should still get something if you have the basic ideas.  So yeah, just go for it.

If you have a dream, don't wait. Act. One of life's little rules. Got it memorized?

Thank you.To be honest, of all the posts i found this one to be most helpful (but relax guys i liked your posts too ;) )thanks a lot man ^_^

I'd say go for it now!  It doesn't really matter how long it takes you to finish, or when people are ready to read.  If you're inspired to write your story now, I'd just do it.  It's also possible that you might not be interested in this story concept come summer, and the story won't get written at all.  Maybe it's just me, but I never write stories that I jot down to "save for later."  They've just been sitting too long and I've come up with different ideas since then.

I wouldn't be too worried about someone else coming up with the same story plot as you.  I mean, there's only so many ways you can write a story.  But even if you were to share a similar plot to someone, your story would still be uniquely yours with your own personal flair and side story.

If you're concerned about getting enough readers, you could write the story now and then, come Summer, give it a quick proofread and publish it then.  Though, honestly, I've gotten the most readers on my fan-fics in the Spring rather than Summer...  It could just be where I'm publishing, though.
