At least, that's what it always sounded like to me

kinda wavery, and slightly off key.

 

Well that's what I felt with the Genesis music except for Sonic games

 

Sonic games always had an amazing soundtrack,the rest of Genesis games however sounds like a really damaged Stereo

Back then, we didn't have awesome PS3 music compatibility with SNES

It sounds like angels singing, to me.

Sonic had a really good music back then, but there were tons of other games that had great soundtracks (Comix Zone, Vectorman, Gunstar heroes,ect)

Bad samples, usually.But that's what happens when you base a sound engine off the use of short, repeated samples for instruments.

Probably due to poorer tech back then though I must say the music was still awesome.
