Several rumored details have popped up online in regards to the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive title, “Final Fantasy Versus XIII.” According to a report by The Silent Chief on Feb. 2, the action role-playing game will be getting a name change. Furthermore, the development has been moved from the Playstation 3 to the next-generation. Square Enix is also expected to do another unveiling this year with an announcement that the project will be released sometime in 2014. “Final Fantasy Versus XIII” was first announced as one of the three initial games to be based on the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology series. The other two were “Final Fantasy XIII” and “Final Fantasy Agito XIII,” which were later renamed to “Final Fantasy Type-0.” Square Enix 1st Production Department is responsible for developing the action role-playing game while Square Enix will be handling the publishing duties. I honestly think this isn't true just like how I don't think that the Sony announcement is gonna be a new console it will be something else but I can't wait to see what it will be and hope we hear some real news about Versus XIII soon hopefully

I don't think it's true. I mean I've always held that Kingdom Hearts III will probably be on the PS4, even though Nomura has stated that it will be for PS3, but Versus XIII? No, I never thought that would be on the PS4 and I don't think it will be. For starters, that would piss soooo many people off, lol. But not only that, this specific project has been in development for what, 7, going on 8 years? Were they thinking of the PS4 all the way back in 05-06? No way. This game was started and built with the PS3 in mind for many years - they wouldn't just change it now. Plus, Sony has said that it wants to support the PS3 up until 2015. If this game is scheduled for a 2014 release, it just makes sense for it to be a "final hurrah" of sorts for the system.

I think this is speculation written by a poor video game journalist who had nothing better to write about.  I mean seriously, rumors have been spread like hotcakes about a PS4 that NO ONE has confirmed anywhere, and there's not even any leads for anyone to believe a PS4's in the making.  The PS3 pretty much fulfills demands at this time, so why would they need to upgrade now?  It can play 3D games, as well as use motion.  Not to mention the discs are all blurays, which have tons of space capacity available for users.

 

So, honestly, I think this is just a big ol' rumor, just like it was rumored Final Fantasy Versus XIII had been cancelled some while ago.  I won't believe anything till I actually see it confirmed by Sony.  Period.

 

And, if Versus XIII really IS changing platforms, then what's Amazon going to do with all the pre-orders they've received for the PS3 version of Versus XIII?  Are they going to just refund everyone?  I mean, surely they can't just send out orders for a game that's on a different system than they'd sold, and I honestly doubt they'd be stocking the item unless they were guaranteed by the company that it would come out as described.

 

Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been MIA for several months following the last few scraps of details we got regarding the game, but it turns out that the reason for this may be because Square Enix is preparing for a second reveal as a next generation exclusive.

NeoGAF user Verendus–who has been sharing quite a few next generation rumors–claims that Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive and is getting a second reveal later this year to confirm a name change. The game is scheduled to release in 2014 .

Verendus also adds that development on Final Fantasy XV and XVI is currently underway for next generation consoles.

When asked about this rumor the developer simply replied with, “Square Enix does not comment on rumor and speculation.”

We all knew that Versus XIII was never going to make it to the PlayStation 3–it looked way too good to be running on current-gen hardware. Versus XIII will be the perfect PlayStation 4 seller, however, I did say exactly the same sentence several years ago regarding the PlayStation 3, so maybe the game will get delayed again for PlayStation 5?

I don't believe it. They've been working too long and to hard on Versus as a PS3 game to all of a sudden have it for an unannounced system that no one knows anything about. It's more risky to put a game this long in the process on a system this early in its infancy.

i Seriously doubt they would just move a game to another platform just because its coming.they know the PS3 hardware capabilties and how to work with it,why risk extending the development time just to move it to another platform they don't exactly know how to get the most out of..its not really logical from a buissness standpoint nor a development standpoint.

NO! Verses is supposed to be the prototype for KH3! If it moves to the PS4 what does that mean for the finale of the Seeker of Darkness Chronicle?!
