What Is So Special About Halo and Call of Duty?

Featured Replies

I've never played CoD, but I used to play Halo some years ago. I had a few fun times with it, but that's all.

Halo is special because it is a shooter with an amazing story line, beautiful graphics, an epic soundtrack, intelligent AI, a good community, developers that care and listen to players, map editing tools, film creation tools, well designed multiplayer that caters both to competitive and to casual audiences.

Call of Duty is nothing special, ever since World at War, it's been the same game over and over again and stupid people keep buying it. The developers just want your money and as long as they keep getting it they don't give two shits about how broken their rushed game is.

This is basically EA with Battlefield and Activision with Call of Duty in a nutshell.

I like Halo

CoD is stupid and really makes smart people who are great gamers into idiots that believe "FPS Master Race."

First of all, it's very hard to not see that Halo has an amazing story....

I ask that myself. People just like violence these days I guess, and care more about graphics than a decent plot.

All my friends like them, I'm cool with it, but I guess these games are not my priotiry in gaming

I thought this would make a bug fuss, but great thread

Lol? Call of duty does not have good graphics.

They are popular because they are casual friendly. Half the people with game consoles will not take the time to play a story-based RPG such as Kingdom Hearts, or etc.

There is nothing special about COD. Story? What story? You mean that bland excuse for a campaign? The game is fun, certainly. But just shooting stuff can only go so far without having something to fight for.

Halo on the other hand... story driven. Something more satisfactory about it. Makes it special.

I still don't understand why people like Mario, don't get me started on Halo.....

I find master chief to be the most uninteresting protagonist in all modern gaming.

lol He is pretty boring but 343 industries intend to change this. In Halo 4 Master Chief has much more of a personality.

I don't think anyone has really bragged about Halo. It's definitely a series that is geared towards proper gamers whereas CoD is aimed at 12 year olds whose parents simply do not care.

Call of Duty is more the hip thing with the kids kinda like how GTA San Andreas was when I was younger. Seriously CoD will die out eventually. Just give it some time.

Apparently Halo's story is pretty good though, I've only played the multiplayer and it is miles better than any CoD game I've played. I dunno there's nothing special about any game on the market unless you happen to have interest in it. Otherwise it completely phases me.

Lol, I didn't mean that they had to be together. It's just that violent games and games with good graphics are more popular these days. It was indeed kinda open to a misunderstanding, but that's what I meant.

Halo is probably one of the most influential games of our time. It took the multiplayer shooter idea and really showed how much more it could be, with the idea of larger maps, a ton of weapons, and paved the way for larger multiplayers games to come. I was never big into it myself, but to sell it short in terms of importance would be foolish.
