Hey there! These are the signups for my newest RP concept; The Experiment. It's a new world and concept unrelated to any game or show, if you read the brief below you'll learn more about the concept, and if you're at all interested, hopefully you'll sign up as well!

 

"In the modern day, everything seems as it should be. It is not. Every day the world refuses to agknowledge the prescence of those stronger than them. Smarter than them. Better than them. You see, what we think of as humanity is not entirely human. A very small percentage of them are more. They have abilities beyond normal capacity or even understanding. Flight, telepathy, elemantal control... you name it. Why do they have these abilities? No-one knows. Well, no-one except me. You may call me Xi. I know about these abilities, and I know who has them. Why do I know these things? I won't tell now, all in due time.

 

It is what I have done with this information that is worth telling you. I have kidnapped several of these "special" people. They've all been put on a small island- what was once a military base. It's made up of beaches and runways, bunkers and palm trees. There's more to this island than meets the eye, and that is why I've put these people here. They have been selected. Selected for The Experiment. They cannot leave until it is finished. Until I have what I seek from them. There is a secret to these people that even they do not know themselves; a secret more amazing than even their powers. So what is this secret? What is that I seek? It is time to find out. Through their interactions, through their compassion and their fury they shall play my game, and it is a game of which I shall be the only winner.

Rules

• The major rule is this; please enjoy yourself. Stick around as much as you can- the more that everyone posts the more the story can advance, so have a good time and don't be afraid to have your character make some strange or interesting decisions, it will only make the RP more interesting.
• Interact with other people. Please don't spend all your time having your character reflect on their troubled past or such. This RP is about the characters and their relationships and interactions, and it will work much better if you take an interest in the story being told by everyone, not just yourself.
• Your character's power cannot cause an unfair advantage over other players. Time-stopping is an exmaple of a power that could out-match just about any other one. Create your power, but make it limited, that will make it all the more interesting when powers are used against each other and fights are even.
• Go with the flow. People will make their own choices and the story will encounter a few twists and turns. It's more interesting when characters have to deal with thos twists naturally.
• General RP Rules of course apply.

Just so you guys know where I'm coming from here. Some of you might be eager to get your powers back or try to find a loop-hole. I'd ask you not to. Think of all the RP's you've been part of. Think of how fights usually go down, with something like "And then I appear behind him and immobilize him!". It can be fun to be super-powered, but too often those act as deus ex machinas. The point with this sequence is to show the side of an RP that is often ignored; the part where the only abilities you have are human ones. Where you are no longer shielded from having human vulnerabilities. This is not a final boss battle between super-heroes. This is talk between several people and an emotionally unhinged monster that requires you to have some weaknesses. The reason why this section is taking away people's powers is the same reason why some of the best tests in the RP have been ones where, instead of just using your powers to fight an enemy, you are forced to make a tough choice for which there is no best answer, and for which you can't just say "I use my powers and fix everything". Quite ironically, the final sequence for an RP about super-heroes is one that focuses on what it is merely to be human. Hopefully you guys understand what I'm talking about and work with me a bit here.

 

 

That's a different part of the brain.

The science behind it is that no matter what part of the brain is being accelerated, the part of the brain that DOES the accelerating is always the same, so the transmitter affects active powers of any type.

Hazimie, I'll let Hazimie (the character) go into the realm with Sylar and Sikota if both of them are okay with it. As far Kijiya, yeah, powerless with the others.

MDSVeritas is growing drastically more awesome. Anyway, for my characters, Joshua wouldn't want to fight in the first place, Isaac's still a pretty darn good fighter and would still be able to dissect, and Lira would be screwed considering she'd automatically revert to her actual body.

Sorry, Haz, if you don't minds I've been itching on this 1 on 1 for a while now.

I forgot Sylar has Isaac's abilities now. So...he can heal, he can conjure infinite shadows (unless its completely pitch black or someone uses something as blinding as a flash bomb), and anything directed to his body at all can be basically negated. Jeez.

He's obviously put so much work into this RP, which, right now, is one of the best I've ever been in. Plus, he's made Xi such an interesting character, a really awesome villain that no one can compare to..

I agree. This is probably the best RP I've been in yet, and Xi is by far the best RP character in the midst of it all.

This Sylar is almost invincible. At least he isn't the one I based this one on. That Sylar has cellular regeneration, which means he can instantly heal from ANY wound.Anyway, this is an absolutely amazing rp, and MDS is the real person who made it so.

Fair enough. I can understand your frustration with a focus on a central villain character who gets so much attention. The point I'm hoping to make, however, is to use Xi as a way of trying to force the RP characters to make important decisions and serve as a constant structure to keep the RP revolving around something, instead of going off in infinite directions.

Thanks man. And yeah, the City was a lot of fun. It's a concept I'd possibly like to toy around with in the future.

Don't mind me, just trying to kick the but of a supposedly invincible Sylar... Meh, if I can beat Death I ought to find a way.

 

Btw, from what I know, we have 3, maybe 4 adept writers plus these other role-players who I can't really criticize at all.
