YouTube's currently in progress video player updates has introduced a new resolution. 144p.

Let's hope it's removed asap. For a website that introduced support for 4K (Ultra HD) among other resolution higher than 1080p last year, this is confusing.

If they are going to add any new resolutions, they should add 576p since that's the only used resolution they don't have.

144p

Wow. That's an interesting choice.

Lower than 240p? HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE.

Doesn't that classify as worse than Nes graphics?

Yay! I can watch animated boxes of random colors!

why do i have a feeling tha you tube is going to start making people watch the lower quility videos so it can save on bandwith ?

It's owned by Google, it doesn't need to save on bandwidth. If it wanted to save on bandwidth it wouldn't support 4K (Ultra HD) and other resolutions that are higher than 1080p.

There's such thing as lower quality than 240p? D: just... no

Ummmmmmmmmmmm.................................

This is wonderful news! Now I will finally be able to watch videos on my toaster!

I pray for the day youtube introduces 1p so I can watch videos on my abacus!

Why is this a bad thing? I'm all for YouTube offering more options. For example, when I'm at my dad's house, I have to pay for mobile broadband with Telstra (since he doesn't have a home connection). The mobile broadband costs $50 for 3GB, so I go through it very fast. I have to avoid watching YouTube as much as possible. If I could use 144p, that'd allow me to watch it a lot more.

You've got a good point there, but if they are going to offer other resolutions they should add ones that are actually used. 576p would be a great example since it's the most used resolution not supported on YouTube. And it offers the gap between 480p and 720p.

I SAW THIS TOO.

And I was like "wut. There is something lower than 240p?!"

Next thing you know they will come out with a quality called "Toaster".
