At the start of the game, you encounter Marluxia who is wearing a hood. He teaches how to use the card system. Same goes for Leon. Normally, you cannot kill them, but:

 

 

 

With an emulator, you can use the Max AP code(Attack Power), and you can make Sora strong enough to kill them by attacking them.

 

It supposed to only work for Riku, but for some reason it works for Sora aswell.

 

Marluxia at the start of the game gives you enough EXP to level up 22 times. O_O

 

Leon gives you 153 EXP.

 

But the real question is, Why can they give out EXP in the first place? Because you're not supposed to be able to kill them.

 

EDIT: This only works in the GBA version. Not the PS2 remake.

Yeah. I tested it out myself with my own emulator and it works. So its not fake or anything. Marluxia gives you like 1300 EXP. O_O Im level 23 now. And with the Max AP cheat, im one shotting every enemy i come across.

Given how much exp Marluxia gives, I would guess he has the same exp as the boss version of him. For Leon, maybe originally they planned a battle with him but later changed it. It could have been overlooked in the coding later.

Game Freak did the same thing with Arceus in Gen IV of Pokemon by giving him a "???-type" form, so you might actually be right.
