April 13, 201312 yr Not finished yet but I know none of it will ever be taught in my high school lol Also I believe this applies to this thread
April 13, 201312 yr Replace "Pythagorean Theorem" with "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally" and it's legit. And I don't even remember what the Hell the Sally thing was for, I just remember I was told to remember the phrase and we went over it many times.
April 13, 201312 yr I don't know about America, but in Canada, we're obligated to take a class in high school called Career & Life which basically teaches you how to do taxes, ect.
April 13, 201312 yr In Australia we have a careers class that at one year everyone has to do it, and thats where we learned about resumes and stuff.
April 13, 201312 yr We had to write a resume in senior English, and I'm pretty sure voting is so easy that there's no "need" to teach it in a classroom setting. And if you don't know what taxes are, there's something else going on there besides criticizing the educational system.Rest of the stuff is free game, though my high school started to require a money-management class for sophomores. Our class didn't have to take it, so I have no clue what is taught in it. :u

I also learned "Please excuse My Dear Aunt Sally" , and went over it numerous times. It is simply a mnemonic to help you remember the order of operations in algebra. Please - Parentheses Excuse- Exponents My- Multiplication Dear- Divsion Aunt- Addition Sally- Subtraction I still use that little handy mnemonic to help me with my math homework sometimes. ^_^
