Questions About The Legend Of Zelda Series.

Posted

Hey everyone, how's it going?  You know something, I've always heard tell of Nintendo's flagship franchise The Legend Of Zelda, and I've always heard praise about this series.  So out of the blue I decided to play for myself to see what all the ruckus was about.  My first Zelda game was Twilight Princess, and I ate it all up the moment I started playing it.  The story and scope of the game is amazing in and of itself, but then, just when I was about to go to the Final Dungeon, I don't even know why, I just stopped playing it.  Then came along the 3DS, and my first 3DS game was Ocarina Of Time, which I played and completed, and so far, is the only Zelda title I've ever beaten.  I truly loved the game, and I felt accomplished when I beat it.  Now I just have to beat Twilight Princess one of these days. xD  So anyways, since I'm technically a newb to the Zelda universe, and since I know that there are a few Zelda fans in this site, I want to cite the following questions:

  • How many Zelda games are there in total?
  • Which ones would you say are the best in your opinion in terms of story?
  • Why does every game start over?  What I mean is, why is it an "Incarnation" of Link if he looks exactly the same in every game? (Except for Wind Waker Link.)
  • Should my next Zelda game be Skyward Sword?  Because I've heard tell that this is possibly one of the greatest Zelda games that exits until this point.

So um, yeah, those are my questions.  Please don't hate me for being a newb to this series, but hey, everyone started out as a newb, right? ^_^

Featured Replies

1. 16 (that are canon).

2. Er, Wind Waker or Skyward Sword.

3. To keep it new and fresh and to experiment with styles as well as character designs.

4. Yep.

15 games if I remember right.

In terms of Story I always liked Wind Waker and OOC the best. Everyone has different favorites for the series though so try whatever one interests you.

Some links are the same. Examples being phantom hourglass and wind waker but most are different incarnations.

Can't say for SS since I haven't played it.

18

id say majoras mask, or oot,

incarnations w few exceptions

id say majoras mask. it gets a lot of because how different t is but I love it

Zelda I (NES), Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES), Link's Awakening and DX(GB,GBC), A Link to the Past (SNES, GBA), Ocarina of Time (N64, 3DS), Majora's Mask (N64), Oracle of Age and Oracle of Seasons (GBC), The Wind Waker (GCN), Twilight Princess (GCN, WII), Fours Swords (GBA), Minish Cap (GBA), Fours Swords Adventures (GCN), Phantom Hourglass (DS), Spirit Tracks (DS), Tetra's Trackers (GCN) Syward Sword (WII). I own most of them, I only need Skyward Sword >:3

I have to say Ocarina of Time (Still don't play Skyward Sword)

Most of them are different incarnations of Link. Only the ones from Ocarina of Time/Majora's mask, Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass, Oracle of Age/Seasons are the same Link (I think those are all)

Sadly I haven't played it T~T
But Skyward Sword is the "first" game in the chronology, so...maybe you should play it first?

PLAY SKYWARD SWORD AND MINISH CAP. Those are my favorite, Minish cap is for the gameboy advance, but you can get it on the 3ds eShop.

I have a Game Boy Advance, so I'm sure I can get it. :3

  • Uhh I counted 15 I could be wrong, as I see it might be 18
  • My biased answer is Oracle of Ages, of course that's for gameboy color sooo...Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, and Twilight Princess
  • Not sure how to answer that, I would just say because they're all Links from different time periods, but they all have to resemble the Legendary Hero
  • Yes you should definitely check out Skyward Sword :) I loved the story and using the wii mote as a sword I thought was a really interesting and innovative way to play the game!~

Lol you make good threads :D

1. 16, not including the new one recently announced

2. Storywise, Skyward Sword, OoT, Link to the Past, and Awakening if you like a humorous/not so serious story

3. Play Skyward Sword and you'll know

4. Yes. It's the Origin of Zelda game, according to the official timeline (and that makes sense)

I see.  And haha, thanks for liking my threads.  I'm glad that you think that I make good threads. :3

But that's only if you have the Ambassador program. Which is no longer up on the 3DS.

Oh yeah, i forgot thats where i got it, i just didnt know if they put it on sale yet.

Each Link is a reincarnation.

I thought that Ocarina of time was the best. Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass were also good.

If it's available then yes, play Skyward Sword. If not then just find anyone. They're all non-horrible but some are better than others
