This is something that is honestly starting to tick me off. People are saying that because the PS4 has been announced now the PS3 is done. No more games for it. KH2.5 will come out for PS4. Etc. Etc. 

The PS2 just went out of production this year and had made games years after the release of the PS3. No doubt that the PS3 will probably do the same. The PS4 will just be coming out when 2.5 gets announced so it will be PS3. As for KH3 it won't necessarily be PS4 only.

If Versus gets finished soon as many are speculating for E3, then KH3 should be out in a couple years. That's about the equivalent of 2008 for the PS2 at which point it was still going pretty well and getting multi-platform games made for it. So, if anything, KH3 will most likely be PS3 and PS4.

I wish it was for both PS3 AND PS4.

I don't want to buy a PS3 to (finally) play FF Versus XIII (XIII, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns too!) and then have to buy a PS4 just to play Kingdom Hearts 3.

THANK YOU!!! Finally someone realizes that PS3 will keep going with great games for many years to come, even with the PS4 still being sold aswell. Im so glad you've realized as well as I, that 2.5 and KH3 will most likely be on PS3 too. Im sure that Vs. XIII will also be on PS3 too.

Same here. Vs. Should stay on PS3, since all of the other XIII series/Fabula Novallis Crystallis games are on PS3 except for Type 0, so Vs. XIII should be PS3 exclusive too.

I agree totally. I had a discussion with one on a german Website with the same Topic. He meant that many people are saying they believe KH3 will most likely come out only on PS4, because it's near to release. I told him it's nonsense and he started to insult for no reason... I still don't think he understood it anyway

And on top of that many sales numbers have shown that new consoles these days are selling horribly to if Sony should stop production on PS3 games (which they wont) it`d still be a stupid move.

If anything it would be a stupid move on SE's part to not have it on Ps3. More people have Ps3's, so it'd be a loss if it was Ps4 only.

By the time it'll come out it'll probably be the equivalent of 2008 for the PS2. And it still had multi-platform games going for it at the time so the PS3 most likely will as well.

Not necessarily the same but something to keep in mind is it could very well be longer than the PS2. It's a popular system, may or may not be as popular as the PS2, but with popularity and a good library and how many people actually own PS3s it's still going to be alive for a long time.

I honestly don't believe the whole "we're not making KH3 until Versus is done" is completely relevant anymore considering how many years ago that statement was made. At this point Versus is probably nearing completion and the Re:Mix's are being made for the PS3. I think at point they've at least started working on very early stuff so I think there's a pretty good chance it'll be for both the PS3 and PS4 but certainly not a PS4 exclusive. If it is there's no way I'm buying it...

Yes it might be possible. It is my desire to develop the next Kingdom Hearts on the existing platform, but the problem with a new console is that it has new technical requirements. So, yes, I'm willing to create something on the existing console because when we aim for another non-existing future console, the release of the title will be far in the future. Yes, as stated by Kaz Hirai, a 10 year lifespan. But who knows, that could change.

KH3 has to be on PS3 aswell as PS4. I mean come on, IT'D BE A HUGE MIDDLE FINGER TO US IF THEY DON'T HAVE ONE NEW MAIN TITLE GAME ON PS3 AND JUST SKIPPED DIRECTLY TO PS4.

 

KH 1 and 2 both came out on PS2, and all we get for PS3 are Remasters of those games, but not a new title?(I know they're Final Mix, but still!) Come on Square. You can't just skip a whole generation of Playstation Console with no new Main Title game and just go to PS4 alone. Besides, that'll just piss off more people who dont wanna buy the PS4 even for just KH3.

 

Not to mention the fact that Nomura stated in the first place. HE SAID THAT HE WANTED ALL OF THE XEHANORT SAGA GAMES ON ONE CONSOLE. THAT'S THE WHOLE DAMN REASON WHY THE REMIX'S ARE ON PS3 AND HE ISN'T WAITING FOR PS4 TO COME OUT AND PUT THEM ON THERE. GET WITH THE PROGRAM PEOPLE!!! He wants to put KH3 on PS3, not PS4.

 

The only reason he might go back on his word is because of Versus. But if by some miracle at the next reveal for Versus that they have maybe a possible release date, then there's a greater chance of KH3 being Multiplatform.

 

Besides, more people will have PS3's than PS4's, since some of us will still be saving up for the new console anyway. Not to mention, they'd make more money if it was Dual Console release.

 

All they'd have to do is develop KH3 for PS3 with Crystal Tools, and then release it for PS3 and port it to PS4, which could easily handle the game maybe even better than PS3.

 

I agree with Weiss completely. Just because PS4 is coming, doesn't mean that KH3 will be only for PS4. There are many things that point that it could be a Multiplatform release.
