So, I've been thinking lately about what I'd like to see in KH3's tutorial. I mean, not specific gameplay elements (like "press X to attack"), but how they handle it as a whole. For example, I really liked KH2's tutorial. I like the idea of starting as a different character at the beginning, making you wait before you control Sora. But I came up with some ideas for how the tutorial would work. These aren't theories, per se, just things I'd think would be cool. here they are:

1. The tutorial could overlap the end of KH3D, starting right when Riku beat Armored Ventus Nightmare. Sora could re-experience "Dive into the Heart" in his KH3D outfit, while it asks him stuff like "do you remember which weapon you had picked before?" (so that you'd have to pick one of the weapons again) and "you must remember how to fight" (while giving a little tutorial with more shadows or something). This could take place while Riku is being asked the three questions. It might show brief side-by-side snippets of Riku while Sora's Dive into the heart takes place. Then it'll end when Riku answers the last question. Then Sora would wake up and start that stupid little tea party, then the story would continue from there.

2. The tutorial could follow Aqua, as she and DiZ are in the realm of Darkness. DiZ could get up, sensing that something's happening (probably in the realm of light, that's causing a reaction in the Realm of Darkness, I have no real explanation for that though), and they could start on a trek through the Realm. You could fight some minor pureblood heartless, and maybe a bigger one as a "easy first boss" kinda thing. Then the story would shift back to where KH3D ended, implying that what we just played hasn't actually taken place in the story yet.

3. The tutorial could let us control Terra's Lingering Will. This would be one of those "we're gonna teach you how to fight while your character is massively OP so that it's not even difficult" kinda deals (kinda like God of War II and III, where Kratos is mad powerful to begin with, but loses his powers shortly). This could just be LW sensing Xehanort's return and starting to move toward where he thinks Xehanort is, mowing down any heartless/nobodies/possibly Unversed (if they choose to bring Vanitas back) that are in his way. Storyline wise, it would be cool if this would chronologically take place near the end of the story, but right when Terra's about to find Xehanort (probably battling Sora or something), it would flash back suddenly to where KH3D ended. But since you're experiencing it from Terra's viewpoint, you wouldn't know anything else about what's going on, so it wouldn't like spoil the whole story or anything.

So yeah, I just thought I'd throw those out there. What do you guys think? Feel free to discuss these or make up your own ideas as to what the tutorial could be.

Dude that sounds good and all but... You just mindfiretrucked me... I need to play KH games to understand the storyline again...

These are really cool ideas. Can we just have all three for the tutorial? haha. I really like the first one though, where it would overlap with the end of KH3D.

What our actual tutorial will turn out to be like well, we'll just have to wait and see!~

I want Kairi to be the starting character who you train with. To me that would just be awesome. Brand new character you haven't played as right at the beginning. coughkh2cough

I honestly didn't think of that. That really is a great idea though. It would give her a bit of time to shine, and remind the player that she's still there, even though the story's kinda pushed away from her a bit. it seems like it would be a good way to bring her back to being significant. Plus, it would be good as a tutorial, because it would be Kairi training just as much as player is "training" at the game.

I think the first and second points are really good ideas.

I was thinking the same thing mine is like this

~~~Terra~~~
Combat Tutorial - Terra's Mind must remember how to fight while fighting Sora, Donald, and Goofy. After Tutorial you get cutscene where Erraqus tells Terra to go in the light but this cutscene takes a little after Dream Drop Distance.
~~~Kiari~~~

Dream Drop - Learn how to dive into the sleeping worlds.

~~~Aqua~~~
Cutscene Only.
~~~Sora~~~

Dive into the Heart and, Remember your pourpce. Talk to Roxas, and Xion.

~~~Riku/Sora~~~
Fight, show master Yen Sid what you learned.
I think they could make Sora spar with Riku and/or Kairi like in BBS.
I just assumed that they would make the tutorial Sora's Mark of Mastery Exam...
I can't imagine Kairi looking bad-ass with her Keyblade, despite how cool I think it is that she might be a playable character in KH3..Those are some pretty cool ideas too. It would work well in terms of linking KH3D to KH3,
Um...
I just assumed that they would make the tutorial Sora's Mark of Mastery Exam...
I have a feeling you should Play KH: 3D Dream Drop Distance
I have a feeling you should Play KH: 3D Dream Drop Distance
I finished it awhile back, and I may have forgotten something
he fails his mark of mastery exam right? And the he goes to retake it and they didn't show that.
It would be cool to start with Kairi training. We could visit her "Dive to the Heart" to begin the game since all of the numbered Kingdom Hearts tutorials have a "Dive to the heart" part somewhere.
I honestly don't like any of these. KH2's tutorial was great because you were intrigued and always wanted to know what would happen next and the final day was just one big pile of epic. I don't think i would have the same feeling with this.
I think Kairi would make a good starter for a tutorial
This. Or if not this, they BETTER make her playable later on in one way or another...
good idea
and starting with kairi and lea training as a tutorial is good too
