I've been thinking about it. So this is what I've come up with.

 

Basically keep it the sidescrolling platformer that it was. People love the games for a reason.

Give it some good graphics

The graphics in New Super Mario Bros U seem fitting with a little tweaking. Like darker colors and a little more detail.

I wouldn't want it to look realistic like Metal Gear or something.

 

I'd want a simple story. Nothing to big. It needs more focus on the gameplay.

 

I think it would be cool to have some sort of combo thing. Like being able to switch between powers mid combo. I think it would add a lot of fun gameplay. Zero's could be melee based and X would of course use his buster.

 

X needs to stay like X...Not some angsty teenager. I swear angst is the new thing in video games.

 

At the end of the day none of this will happen. If they were to maybe someday possibly do something with a Megaman game. It will unfortunately most likely be a FPS...

Well the X series used to be dark since both humans and reploids are dying during the plot.I don't mind the plot of the X series(except X6 and X7 those were stupid) as long as it looks like it belongs to the Megaman Universe.

 

In case Capcom ever grew a heart,I want X9 to have the awesome beautiful simple Gameplay that X1,X4 and X5 had without overloading it with gimmicks like the X-Hunters from X2 or the nightmare system from X6

 

I want X and Zero to be playable but as seperate stories instead of switching them during the game so I can see the plot from both sides.

 

And finally,make a challenging Sigma battle again,the battle with Sigma was patheticly easy in X6 and X7,I want it to be challenging but not as bullshitly hard as Kaiser Sigma in X3 (HARDEST SIGMA EVER)

 

That is what I want from the next X game

I haven't play the 3D Megaman X game from your screenshot,but it looks interesting,I'd like to play a 3D Megaman game
