EDIT: The book has now been released! Please feel free to discuss it!

Just a treat for fans of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians/Heroes of Olympus series. The cover for The House of Hades was released today. Here's the US cover:

AW YEAH! MORE PERCY JACKSON AND THE OTHER 6 CHOSEN IN THE ORACLE!

From what i can see, im guessing that in the normal cover, Percy and Annabeth are heading to the door(I mean, its probably why it looks so terrifying, since their heading to the door from the underworld, while the other 5 and Nico are coming from the normal world.

Certainly a pretty slick cover. All it does though is make me more anxious.

The UK cover looks better imo

The US cover looks awesome! Can't say the same for the EU one, though.

I cannot wait 'til it comes out! :)

So I just finished the book and thought it would be cool if there was a thread for it. So what were your initial reactions and things that surprised you.

For me it was learning that Nico de Angelo was gay

Yes I do recommend it because the Author really gives you a deep and firm grasp of there emotions and feelings. But to really love and invest yourself in the series you have to start at the very beginning Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief, but be warned the first books are average because there his literary debuts but Mr.Riordan gets better with every book he makes

So you're telling me that it is better to start from The Lightning Thief, The Sea Monsters, The Titan's Curse and so on instead of starting from The Lost Hero ,and the Son of Neptune?

Ah, I'm still reading it :

Nico's gay??

Well then

nothing was surprising. im just waiting for the last book

Yes because there are a lot of rules and customs of the demigod lifestyles that is elaborated and touched upon in the earlier novels. By knowing these rules and traditions you'll better understand the dilemnas and limits that happen throughout the books

Yo guys, just a heads up, lets try to keep spoilers in spoiler tags :

The book is still pretty new, and we don't want to ruin any surprises for others.

Anyways, I just finished reading it this Friday (well, it was more like 1 AM Saturday, but eh). Great book.

Nico being gay was really surprising, and Riordan handled it pretty well I'd say.

Now begins the year long wait for the last book...

Well, you could start from The Lost Hero and be able to follow along with this series decently well, but I really wouldn't recommend that. The Heroes of Olympus series assumes that you've read the Percy Jackson series, and it references them very heavily (as well as spoils pretty much every major plot point). Not only that, but a good portion of the characters in the Heroes of Olympus are directly from the Percy Jackson series. If House of Hades seems interesting to you, I think it would be worth starting with The Lighting Thief and working your way up. The Percy Jackson series was great (I personally like it a bit more than Heroes of Olympus), and the books aren't too long.
