Well, this suggestion is a bit medieval but if you're that anxious, make a vow. Vow to be the most faithful partner you could possibly be for the girl you come to love, in body, heart and mind.

Ben, if it's something you don't want, then don't go after it!It's much simpler than you think. By crying you fear it and when you fear your enemies(mental and physical) they walk over you. You wanna be the kind of guy to date one girl then do it. BE THAT GUY! Crying won't help at all, just say "no, i will not be that kind of douchebag".

When you find a girl that you truly love, you will not have the desire to be with anyone else...

That doesn't mean however that you should try to look at every girl in a relationship you form in the future to be "the one"...

Here is how you can view it Having a girlfriend is much like having a really close friend. would you rather have a lot of friends and barely have time to devote an equal amount of devotion and time, that some may find to be half hearted for or would you rather have one truly best friend whom you can always keep close to your heart and devote a true devotion and time for?
