Which is More Scarier? Silent Hill or Dead Space?

Posted

So which of these two games do you find to be more scary? Silent Hill or Dead Space?

Featured Replies

Haven't played Dead Space, so Silent Hill.

I've been told that Dead Space is disturbingly and heart wrenchingly scary. :3

Dead Space. Jesus, Dead Space.

I have not played either.

However, I think Silent Hill is scarier. Dead Space has a lot of tense moments and jumpscares, but is getting progressively less focused on making people afraid, and more on watching zombie-monster-things get dismembered.

Silent Hill, though, is known to have some very freaky moments, especially ones that get into your head. Silent Hill 2 is often referred to as a very scary game that does exactly that. (It also spawned the Pyramid Heads...and yeah. Those things.)

Neither are particularly scary but...Silent Hill I guess. Pyramid Head...ugh...

Silent Hill is more unsettling than scary, but with that said Dead Space is just jump scare after jump scare. So I dunno.

I felt the dead space games were too action oriented to be scary. I only played silent hill 2 and 3, and I have yet to play a game whos atmosphere was as oppressive.

Dead Space used to be scary, but then dead space 3 came out.

Definitely Silent Hill. The atmosphere is a lot more oppressive, soundtrack is really creepy and overall enemies are really disturbing and hard to kill. Ammo is limited and you really have to work for your survival. Plot is quite mindfiretrucking as well.

Dead Space isn't bad either,  but it doesn't feel really scary. It feels like action game. Game relies heavily on cheap jumpscares all the time and soundtrack only gives me headache. You have so awesome weapons that you have no change of losing even on hard and you can get healthkits literally from every room. Enemies aren't that hard to kill since their weakness is always legs or some really shiny weakpoint that you can't miss. The game is lot of fun though, but it was't that scary for me

Well I haven't played Dead Space but Silent Hill 2 has terrified me at times by doing nothing at all. The atmosphere in that game...so scary.....
